I was on the sidelines for the conference matchup between two teams which feature high-powered offensive units. I witnessed a display of impressive running attacks from both teams. There were several impressive performances throughout the game. [player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"], QB, 6’4" 185, Rolesville HS. Byrum remained in the pocket to deliver accurate throws. He displayed his ability to deliver accurate throws on the run, one for a long-ball TD reception in the end zone. Byrum displayed leadership and calmness while directing the offense throughout the game. [player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"] completed 11 of 21 passes for 262 yards and 3 TDs. Antonio Crim Jr. RB, 6’0" 190, Rolesville HS. Antonio ran with power and speed while following his blockers into open lanes to gain yards. He displayed good balance and vision while running inside to gain yardage. Antonio does not go down after initial contact is made. He quickly accelerated past defenders into the open field to score on one play. Antonio Crim Jr. carried the ball 8 times for 117 rushing yards. [player_tooltip player_id="126936" first="Noah" last="Rogers"], WR, 6’2" 182, Rolesville HS. Noah ran precision pass routes and quickly separated from defenders to make catches in traffic. He displayed the ability to accelerate past defenders in the open field after the reception on his way to the end zone. The highlight reception was made between two defenders in the end zone for his second score. [player_tooltip player_id="126936" first="Noah" last="Rogers"] had 3 receptions for 79 yards and 2 TDs. Camden Rog, WR, 6’4" 185, Rolesville HS. Camden ran good pass routes and separated from defender to make a couple of catches. Camden Rog had 2 receptions for 35 yards. [player_tooltip player_id="97528" first="Jesiah" last="Henderson"], OT, 6’5" 305, Rolesville HS. Jesiah displayed good footwork and technique while controlling defenders to open lanes for the running backs. He was clearly the dominant player on the offensive line using his size and mobility to overpower defenders. [player_tooltip player_id="97528" first="Jesiah" last="Henderson"] who self-claim the nickname "Mr. Pancake" had several "pancake" blocks throughout the game. [player_tooltip player_id="154603" first="Lex" last="Thomas"], QB, 6’0" 180, Heritage HS. Lex sets up in the pocket and delivered accurate short range passes to the running backs on pass plays. He displayed the ability to change the snap count which caused the defense to jump off-sides on several plays. Lex displayed good arm strength on a long-ball pass. I would like to have seen more throws to the two talented big wide receivers, [player_tooltip player_id="28658" first="William" last="Hawkins IV"] and Tavares Carter. [player_tooltip player_id="154603" first="Lex" last="Thomas"] completed 13 of 33 passes for 208 yards. [player_tooltip player_id="28658" first="William" last="Hawkins IV"], WR, 6’4" 200, Heritage HS. William ran precision pass routes while quickly separating from the defender. He displayed athleticism on a diving catch in traffic. William assisted the offense with his ability to block and help running backs gain yardage. [player_tooltip player_id="28658" first="William" last="Hawkins IV"] made several impressive blocks throughout the game and is one of the best blocking wide receivers in the state. Jaz Adams-Beaver, RB, 5’10" 185, Heritage HS. Jaz used his slashing-style of running to elude defenders while gaining yardage. He displayed speed and quickness to find an opening while running inside. Jaz Adams-Beaver carried the ball 19 times for 102 yards. Tavares Carter, WR, 6’3" 170, Heritage HS. Tavares ran good pass routes and used his body to shield the defender on one catch. Tavares Carter is a big talented wide receiver. Coleson Fields, RB, 5’9" 170, Heritage HS. Coleson used his speed and quickness to gain yardage. He quickly accelerates past defenders into the open field to gain big yardage. Coleson displayed the quickness to get around the corner into the open field and the power to run over defenders. Coleson Fields carried the ball 21 times for 136 yards. [player_tooltip player_id="97529" first="Lee" last="Hall"], C, 6’0" 285, Heritage HS. Lee displayed good footwork and technique while controlling defenders to open lanes for the running backs. He moves quickly to make contact with the defender after snapping the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="97529" first="Lee" last="Hall"] was one of the dominant players on the offensive line. Carter Alls, OT, 6’5" 310, Heritage HS. Carter displayed good footwork and technique while controlling defenders to open lanes for the running backs. He moves quickly out of his stance and moves well in tight spaces to control defenders. Carter Alls was one of the dominant players on the offensive line.
