There were a ton of great games in the area, but the game I decided to go to was The Lamar Texans (7-3) vs The Cy-Fair Bobcats (8-3). Both teams were evenly matched the whole game. Both teams also had amazing defenses making stop after stop resulting in a low scoring game. In the end The Cy-Fair Bobcats were able to get over The Lamar Texans by kicking three field goals which won them the game with a close score of 16-14. Although, The Lamar Texans lost I do think they had the better standouts on offense. I’ll be discussing The Lamar Texans offensive standouts.
#22 Kelton Weathers RB, LB Jr 5’10 170 lbs
The Lamar Texans had a run heavy game incorporated with running back Kelton Weathers. Kelton is an extremely fast running back his speed is the real deal. Kelton also has great footwork as well. Kelton ran the ball on kickoff return and was able score a 100 yard touchdown, but it got called back for a holding call. It is still an impressive feat that Kelton was able to showcase his speed in this way. Kelton will be a great asset to The Lamar Texans in his senior year.
#12 Kenneth Rosenthal QB Jr 6’2 185 lbs
Kenneth Rosenthal was an interesting quarterback. Kenneth didn’t pass the ball a lot of time because of the heavy run offense. However, Kenneth ran the ball the most himself. Kenneth was fast and when his offensive line opened up a path for him Kenneth definitely took full advantage of it. If Kenneth could work on his throwing and quick decision making skills he’ll become a great quarterback and top college prospect. Kenneth ended the night with 16 carries with 65 rushing yards, rushed in for one touchdown and threw one receiving touchdown.
#11 Tristen Brown WR, RB So 5’9 160 lbs
Tristen Brown was The Lamar Texans’ fastest wide receiver. Although, Tristen didn’t get a lot of chances to shine because of the run heavy formation Tristen was still able to showcase his speed when he got the chance. Tristen was always in a good spot to catch the ball using his speed to zoom pass his defender. For Tristen only being a sophomore he has a lot of potential to be a great wide receiver in the next two years. Tristen only had two receptions but had 45 receiving yards.
#13 Ayden Turner WR Jr 6’0 180 lbs
Ayden Turner has a ton of potential as a wide receiver. Ayden didn’t have many chances to standout, but he certainly clutched up when he needed to. Ayden is a textbook receiver knowing how to properly run his routes and how to get open. Ayden only caught one pass all night, but it resulted in a 32 yard touchdown. I hope to see Lamar used Ayden more properly in his senior year.
