ND 9B State Finals: Cavalier vs. LaMoure-LM-Recap, Stats, Bests
FARGO, ND– We spent the entire day doing what we do best at Prep Redzone Dakotas: scouting state championship football. The FargoDome was the place to be for 12 hours on Friday so we will have plenty of coverage coming out over the coming days from what we saw.
We start in 9B with the state final between the Cavalier Tornadoes and the LaMoure-Litchville-Marion Loboes, two undefeated teams but only one could be crowned a state champion. We will start with our game recap and then in a separate article, dive into who was our “Big Dogs of the Game” from each of the four matchups on Friday on a snowy day in Fargo.
Box Score
1st Quarter: No Scoring
2nd Quarter:
LAMOURE-LM: RB Brady Lettenmaier (2022) sets the tone for a 76-yard rushing touchdown to start the motor of this Loboes team. LaMoure-LM 6, Cavalier 0.
LAMOURE-LM: QB Corban Potts (2022) scoots in for a 1-yard run to really shift the momentum for the rest of the game for the Loboes. LaMoure-LM 12, Cavalier 0.
CAVALIER: QB Brysen Cleem (2022) finds WR Caden DeMars for a 4-yard passing touchdown and the Tornadoes’ first score of the day. The Tornadoes would also connect on the 2-point conversion. LaMoure-LM 12, Cavalier 8.
LAMOURE-LM: It was a passing touchdown this time from Loboes QB Corban Potts as he found Tony Hanson for a 21-yard touchdown. This would be a three touchdown quarter for the Loboes in the 2nd quarter, which really set their momentum in their favor thru the end of the game. LaMoure-LM 20, Cavalier 8. Halftime
3rd Quarter:
LAMOURE-LM: After starting the half by recovering an onside kick well-placed by Juan Cruz (2024), the Loboes used Corban Potts deep in the red zone to seal another touchdown on the run from 3-yards out, and the Loboes built on their momentum from the 2nd quarter into the rest of the game. LaMoure-LM 28, Cavalier 8. End of 3rd Quarter
4th Quarter:
LAMOURE-LM: Loboes WR Tate Mart (2023) cashed in on a rushing touchdown for LaMoure/Litchville-Marion from 12 yards out. LaMoure-LM 34, Cavalier 8.
CAVALIER: On what was in my eyes the best play of the game for the Tornadoes, QB Brysen Cleem (2022) put a terrific touch on the football to junior WR Landon Carter for a 27-yard passing touchdown, which would be the last score the Tornadoes on the day. LaMoure-LM 34, Cavalier 14.
LAMOURE-LM: Corban Potts added the fourth and final touchdown of his high school career when he yet again was heavily used in the red zone and took the ball from 11-yards out to put a dagger in sealing the Loboes perfect season. LaMoure-LM 42, Cavalier 14. Final

A Few Bests
Best Play:
Running Back Brady Lettenmaier (2022) and his 76-yard sprint to the end zone to start the train for the Loboes. After a scoreless first quarter, this set the tone for the Loboes unit to just keep clicking.
Best Chance to Get Back to State Next Season:
LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes as far as their offensive unit goes, Loboes will only lose Corban Potts to graduation. The rest of the key contributors listed in Friday morning’s game are all back for a senior season, giving the Loboes my nod in 9B to repeat as state champions next season.
Congratulations to both the Cavaliers and Loboes on their excellent seasons!
