The Missouri High School Class 6 football playoffs are underway and we are counting down until the state championship trophy is raised on November 27 in Columbia. <strong>DISTRICT 1</strong> <strong>Seeds:</strong> <strong>1. CBC (10-1)</strong>, <del>2. Marquette (9-2),</del> <del>3. Lindbergh (8-2),</del> <del>4. De Smet (8-3),</del> <del>5. Kirkwood (6-3),</del> <strong>6. St. Louis University High (7-3)</strong>, <del>7. Northwest (Cedar Hill) (5-5),</del> <del>8. Vianney (1-9)</del> <strong>Bracket:</strong> <a href="https://www.mshsaa.org/Activities/DistrictTournaments.aspx?alg=19&amp;class=6&amp;district=1&amp;year=2021">MSHSAA.org</a> <strong>Notes:</strong> One of the most anticipated games of the season turned out to be a rout. Top seed CBC and fourth-seeded De Smet, which are both ranked in the top three in the <em>St. Louis Post-Dispatch</em> large-schools rankings, met for the second time this season and produced the same result. Tied 7-7 after one quarter, CBC scored 35 unanswered points to pull away for a 42-7 victory. Junior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103779" first="Jeremiyah" last="Love"]</strong> rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and caught a 33-yard pass. Junior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171841" first="Dylan" last="Van"]</strong> scored twice. Junior linebacker <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103780" first="Michael" last="Teason"]</strong> had a team-high eight tackles. Senior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171848" first="Ayden" last="Robinson-Wayne"]</strong> caught eight passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. ... Battle-tested St. Louis University High looked like a dangerous No. 6 seed and the Junior Billikens have lived up to that through the first two playoff games. SLUH emerged from a back-and-forth battle with a 35-28 upset victory over second-seeded Marquette after senior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103093" first="Luke" last="Johnston"]</strong> connected with junior TE <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103409" first="Zach" last="Ortwerth"]</strong> for an 18-yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds left. Johnston completed 16 of 26 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns (with two interceptions) and now has 2,043 passing yards and 24 TDs in 10 games. Senior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="99449" first="Chris" last="Brooks Jr"].</strong>, a Yale commit, scored three touchdowns, including two on the ground, and snagged an interception. Sophomore standout WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="125255" first="Ryan" last="Wingo"]</strong> caught two passes for 88 yards and a score. ... CBC will now host SLUH in the district championship game this Friday. The Cadets, who have won nine straight games since losing their season opener against East St. Louis (Ill.), will play their third straight playoff game against a Metro Catholic Conference rival they faced during the regular season. CBC defeated SLUH 59-29 at SLUH in Week 5, outscoring the hosts 35-6 in the second half. &nbsp; <strong>DISTRICT 2</strong> <strong>Seeds:</strong> <strong>1. Francis Howell (10-1),</strong> <strong>2. Troy Buchanan (9-2),</strong> <del>3. Hazelwood Central (8-3),</del> <del>4. Timberland (7-4), 5. Pattonville (4-6),</del> <del>6. Hickman (3-7),</del> <del>7. Fort Zumwalt West (2-8),</del> <del>8. Hazelwood West (2-8)</del> <strong>Bracket:</strong> <a href="https://www.mshsaa.org/Activities/DistrictTournaments.aspx?alg=19&amp;class=6&amp;district=2&amp;year=2021">MSHSAA.org</a> <strong>Notes: </strong>The higher seeds won every game in the first round of the district playoffs last week and that trend continued in the semifinal round as the top two seeds punched their tickets for the title game. ... After scoring 49 points in its quarterfinal win, Francis Howell exploded for 63 points — the second-most for the Vikings this season — and more than 500 total yards of offense in a 63-32 shootout win over Timberland. The Vikings racked up 313 yards on the ground, with three players rushing for 80 yards or more, and 198 through the air. Junior LB-RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37667" first="Brady" last="Hultman"]</strong> recorded a team-high 13 tackles. ... Senior WR <strong>Josh Gibbs</strong> caught five passes for 133 yards and a touchdown. ... Troy Buchanan scored three touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to pull away from Hazelwood Central for a 34-22 victory. Junior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37718" first="Charos" last="Sutton"]</strong> continued his strong season by throwing for 211 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 77 yards and three scores. For the season, Sutton has thrown for 1,989 yards and 21 touchdowns (against six interceptions) and rushed for 909 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also has a 15-yard touchdown reception. Senior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="212002" first="Nathan" last="Ryan"]</strong> caught five passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. Ryan has 42 receptions for 1,040 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. He’s averaging 24.8 yards per catch.  Sutton and Ryan are two of the biggest breakout performers in the state this season. ... Senior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103085" first="Jamarion" last="Price"]</strong> led Hazelwood Central with two touchdowns, his team-high 16th and 17th of the season. Price also topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark in just 10 games. ... The district championship game this Friday at Francis Howell should be a fun matchup. Howell defeated Troy 41-38 on Sept. 24 on a touchdown pass with just 13 seconds remaining. Troy is averaging 48.2 points per game and Howell is averaging 48 points per contest. &nbsp; <strong>District 3</strong> <strong>Seeds:</strong> <strong>1. Lee’s Summit North (10-1)</strong>, <strong>2. Joplin (10-1)</strong>, <del>3. Nixa (8-3)</del>, <del>4. Raymore-Peculiar (8-3)</del>, <del>5. Kickapoo (5-5)</del>, <del>6. Junior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="177944" first="Quincey" last="Baker"]</strong> rushed for 162 yards on 24 carries to pace the offense, while Howes finished with 82 yards rushing on 18 carries. Senior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171825" first="Tre" last="Baker"]</strong>, who recently flipped his commitment from Abilene Christian to Southern Illinois, threw for 134 yards and a touchdown. Ray-Pec was led by junior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103410" first="Zander" last="Dombrowski"]</strong> (204 yards passing, one TD) and junior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="99468" first="Jaidyn" last="Doss"]</strong> (five receptions for 121 yards and a TD). ... Joplin’s defense made the difference in a 24-13 victory over Nixa. The Eagles trailed 13-10 early in the second half but scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. Senior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="218496" first="Always" last="Wright"]</strong> threw for 122 yards and ran for 85 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="185425" first="Quin" last="Renfro"]</strong> rushed for 105 yards and a score on 28 carries.
