There was a banged-up running back striking twice early, another doing considerable damage with limited carries, a defensive back with two monster plays and a quarterback driving out of the shadows of his future Power Five backfield mate. All three of them will now prep for the state title games, knowing their efforts helped get them there.

Hobbled by a relatively minor leg injury, Green still did considerable damage in the Class 5A Lower State finals win over Fort Dorchester. The junior tailback had 16 carries for 59 yards and a score and took a short screen pass 74 yards for another touchdown. Against a talented Patriots’ defense that includes some studs up front, Green’s two first-quarter scores proved invaluable in the 21-14 win.
Amariee Morris, RB, Beaufort
After missing three of the final four regular-season games with an injury, Beaufort fans weren’t sure how ready he’d be for the playoffs. Guess we can put those concerns to rest after he helped the Eagles to a state championship berth. The running back capped off an impressive run through the Lower State rounds with a four-touchdown, 70-yard night against West Florence.
Dorian Ferguson, DB, Camden
The Bulldogs’ senior jumped into Friday’s Class 3A Lower State game against Dillon with just one interception on the season. He added two more to the ledger. First, Ferguson had one to end the first half. Then, as Dillon was attempting to take the lead in the final moments, he snagged another one. The impact of those two plays may have out-done even his 40-something tackles this year.

With all eyes on running back Traevon Dunbar Traevon Dunbar 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Midland Valley | 2024 State SC , Williams (pictured) showed how good he could be. The undersized but electric quarterback was a perfect eight-of-eight passing for 218 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Barnwell Friday. On the ground, the 5-foot-8, 165-pound speedster added 141 yards and a score on just six carries.
