Aidan Meyer 6'3" | 220 lbs | TE | 2027
OH
The Piqua Indians faced another challenge Friday but were able to answer the bell yet again as they rode a late-game surge to defeat Edgewood Cougars. The players that stood out are below. Piqua Indians Jasiah Medley RB/FS 5’11 185 lbs. ℅ 22. Jasiah had another stellar performance vs. Edgewood rushed for 140 yards on 19 attempts and scored 3 touchdowns. As long as Medley’s healthy, he’ll be the focal point of the Piqua Offensive attack. Defensively, He was amazing from the Free Safety position recording 7 solo tackles. Jasiah really does a great job of reading and reacting to keys. He is very strong and brings down ball carriers with great Hit Power. In Pursuit, he takes great angles to the football! Jackson Trombley K/P 5’11 180 lbs. ℅ 23. Jackson was brilliant Last Friday and arguably could’ve made the play of the game punting a 70-yard bomb inside the Edgewood 5 yard line midway through the fourth quarter to get the Indians in position to make the late push to win the game. Trombley has a big leg and really follows through his kicks. Routinely Kicks Touchbacks. Sam Schmeising MLB 6’2 223 lbs. ℅ 23. Schmeising consistently made plays vs. Edgewood, especially on early downs. He tallied 10 solo tackles including two for loss in the fourth quarter. Sam is solid at the point of contact and does not get driven out of the gap. Uses great leverage technique. Wraps up the ball carrier routinely. Has quickness to beat offensive lineman to the gap. Plays through the whistle without getting penalties. Forced 2 fumbles vs. Edgewood that resulted in points for Piqua. Diamond in the rough! Aidan Meyer CB 5’8 179 lbs. ℅ 22. Meyer had a big game vs. Edgewood recovering a fumble on the first play from scrimmage and Intercepting a pass to end the game. He also recorded 4 solo tackles. Aidan is a true zone corner. Will run support and routinely tackles the ball carrier. Understands proper technique to play zone coverage. Will get hip to hip with a receiver downfield and routinely wins 50/50 balls. Has solid hands to make interceptions. Edgewood Cougars Radical Rothermel MLB/OG 6’1 250 lbs. ℅ 22. Posted 5.2 40 yard dash. Is a Three Sport Athlete! Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. Is quick-footed. From the Offensive Guard position is able to pull and locate. Uses Solid Hit Power to knock defenders off the ball routinely. Has leg strength to routinely sustain blocks and clear a path for runners. Has decent technique and doesn’t get penalized often. Plays Middle Linebacker Defensively and is a Gap filler. Reads and Reacts well. Is a solid Tackler that Hits with power and wraps up well. Rothermel plays with intensity and passion. Has an old-school feel to his game. Tavion Crosby FB 5’10 195 lbs. ℅ 23. Crosby plays bigger than the weight listed. Really does a nice job running through arm tackles. As the game progresses, Crosby gets stronger( wears a defense down). Rushed for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns vs. Piqua. Tavion is a downhill runner that has quick feet and decent vision. Runs behind his pads and is tough to bring down once he reaches the second level of the defense. Finishes runs by delivering blows to defenders routinely. Tavion is definitely a player to watch next season!
