On Friday November 5th, 2021 I decided to go to Rhodes Stadium to watch The Seven Lakes Trojans (7-3) vs The Cinco Ranch Cougars (6-4). These two teams are probably in the most difficult district in Houston having to compete against powerhouse high school like The Katy Tigers and The Tompkins Falcons. This has only made these two teams stronger which resulted in a competitive game between them. The Seven Lakes Trojans had the momentum for the majority of the game as The Cinco Ranch Cougars were playing catch up to stay in the game. The score was close the whole game Cinco Ranch almost came back, but Seven Lakes kept the lead until the very end with a final score of 26-24. Although, The Cinco Ranch Cougars lost they still had impressive standouts on both sides of the ball.
#19 Noah Abboud WR Jr 5’10 160 lbs
#19 Noah Abboud was on fire Friday night. Noah was the main wide receiver getting the ball. While watching Noah he always found a way to get open and trip up his defender. Noah’s speed was also impressive if you gave that man space he was taking it to the house. Early on in the 1st quarter Noah was way of head of his defender caught the pass and went on for 67 yards. I believe this would of been a touchdown, but the referee got in Noah’s way. Noah ended the night with five receptions, 125 total yards and two receiving touchdowns.
#3 Seth Salverino WR Jr 6’1 185 lbs
Seth Salverino didn’t get a lot of chances to shine against The Seven Lakes Trojans, but whenever Seth did get the ball he made an impact. Seth was fast off the ball and had good footwork allowing him to advance all over the field. Whenever, Seth was open he would get the pass and averaged a lot of yards. Seth had a great catch that got him 47 yards that put Cinco Ranch in a great position to score.
#12 Gavin Rutherford Gavin Rutherford 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Cinco Ranch | 2023 State TX QB Jr 6’1 195 lbs
Gavin Rutherford Gavin Rutherford 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Cinco Ranch | 2023 State TX the quarterback and captain of The Cinco Ranch Cougars. Gavin definitely knows how to lead his team on offense. Gavin has a good arm and accuracy. Gavin also good at scrambling he knows how to get out of danger and while under pressure can still find a target and complete the pass. In a desperate 3rd down situation he was able to lob a pass up before getting tackled and threw for 47 yard pass. Gavin, Noah and Seth with these three still being juniors and if they improve on their basics they can make Cinco Ranch into an unstoppable offensive threat. Gavin ended the night with one rushed in touchdown and threw for two touchdown passes.
#4 Fordham Parks DB Sr 5’10 170 lbs
On the defensive side #4 Fordham Parks stood out the most to me the most. Fordham is a defensive back and insanely fast. Fordham was great at locating where the ball was and instantly pursing after it. If Fordham had you in his sights he wasn’t letting you go no matter how far out they were he would hawk them down. Fordham was also the returner on kickoff and with his speed he was able to get 67 total yards and he only ran the ball twice. Fordham also has the attention of two colleges having offers from Bethel College and Benedictine College.
