With some intense matchups set to kickoff this weekend in round 2 of the MHSAA playoffs, it's a good time to remind you of some of the talent that is still alive after round 1. Here are some of the best players to watch this weekend as round 2 gets underway.

[player_tooltip player_id="80488" first="Cephus" last="Harris III"] vs. Sterling Heights Stevenson

A tough, physical runner, Harris III has had a huge season for Chippewa. He’s extremely smart and has added vision to help him see the entire field when he’s running. He doesn’t hesitate much and has some burst once he sees the hole that assists him in getting to the second level of the defense. Harris is a phenomenal player with a big test this week against a divisional opponent in Stevenson.

[player_tooltip player_id="30129" first="William" last="Johnson"] vs. De La Salle

The number one player in the state and his team have a huge game vs. De La Salle this week. Look for Johnson to try and take over the game vs. Pilots with his dominant defensive abilities and his quickness as a wideout. He is a two-way player and a five star recruit, who is currently committed to play at Michigan next season at cornerback. Johnson has been every where on the field for the Blue Devils this season and plays with the heart of a kid trying to get his first offer. If you look past his immense talent, there's still so much to like about Johnson, especially as a teammate. He so engaged on the field and is clearly Grosse Pointe South's heart and soul.

[player_tooltip player_id="30316" first="Dante" last="Moore"] vs. River Rouge

May not be much of a hot take anymore, but Moore is currently the best quarterback in the state. He has all of the traits you want to see at the QB position, including leadership, poise, strong arm, and touch. He rarely makes a bad decision in the pocket and can pick up yards with his legs. He always wants to throw first before scrambling which is a terrific sign from a young quarterback. Trusting your arm can be a big factor, especially in the playoffs. Moore currently has 27 offers from schools like MSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame. Detroit King plays River Rouge on Friday in what should be one of the best games of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id="30144" first="Tyrell" last="Henry"] vs. Port Huron Northern

One of, if not the best athlete in the state on the football field, Henry helped Roseville make history last week when they won their first ever playoff game, 27-0. Henry has been a big part of Rosevilles dominant season, making big plays constantly for his team, although if you’d ask him, he would credit the entire team because of the leader he is. Henry is arguably the best athlete in Michigan high school football right now and he’s headed to East Lansing next season to continue to develop as a player for the Spartans. Look for him to have the ball in his hands early and often vs. Port Huron Northern to try and provide a spark for Roseville.

[player_tooltip player_id="30139" first="Davonte" last="Miles"] vs. Detroit King

It’s going to be thrilling to watch [player_tooltip player_id="30316" first="Dante" last="Moore"] go up against this physical River Rouge defensive in round 2. The 6’5, 275 pound Miles will try and make things as difficult as possible for the King offense. He is as strong as a bull with solid technique. Miles is simply just tough to move around and he can fill gaps for his linebackers to be freed up. The senior defensive lineman is currently mulling offers from 18 schools, with Michigan, Indiana, and other division one programs in the mix.

[player_tooltip player_id="30130" first="Christian" last="Rapley"] vs. Canton

A member of the Prep Redzone Michigan 'freaks list', it's obvious to see why after his 2021 season. Rapley runs some of the cleanest routes I've seen and his skillset allows him to have an unlimited route tree. He flies around the field making plays every single game and is a big reason that Belleville is as talented as they are. They will need Rapley to perform in the big game vs. Canton this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="226712" first="Mason" last="Muragin"] vs. Grosse Pointe South

Muragin will be ranked in the 2023 rankings update next month, and it's been obvious to see why when you put his film on. His punch and explosiveness out of his stance are phenomenal and he has a lot of tools that can be elevated as a senior next season. Expect him to be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail this offseason. Look for him to disrupt the Blue Devils offense early and often.

[player_tooltip player_id="30211" first="Tommy" last="McIntosh"] vs. Mount Pleasant

The Wisconsin commit is looking to take care of some unfinished business as a senior before heading to Madison in the summer. Dewitt plays in a big game vs. Mount Pleasant on Friday, and you can expect McIntosh to contribute heavily. As smooth of a route runner that he is, he may actually be better at securing catches. He has a big catch radius and will more often than not come down with the football.
