Houston high school football is a halfway through the season. Week six had a great game of the week Friday night probably the best game in the whole season. Both teams went into this game undefeated and have a huge rivalry. The Spring Lions(4-1) faced off against The Westfield Mustangs(5-0). Both teams are highly ranked in Houston and highly ranked in the whole state of Texas. The game started out with Westfield dominating Spring before the 2nd half. However, Spring kicked it up a notch in the 2nd half and almost caught up with Westfield. However, the final score was 31-21 with The Westfield Mustangs coming out victorious. The Westfield Mustangs offense was stacked saw a whole lot of playmakers and standouts players that I’ll be discussing.

#3 Da’John Palomo S, CB, WR Jr

Talking about a standout player Da’John Palomo had an amazing night against The Spring Lions. Palomo was quick, fast and had some impressive footwork. If you gave Palomo the space he needed he would definitely gain separation, make the catches and get the yards needed and more. At the end of the night Palomo had five receptions, but the way Palomo was playing it felt like he caught a lot more than five. Out of those five receptions three of them were touchdown passes and he had 155 overall yards.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id="60727" first="Cardell" last="Williams"] QB Sr 6’3 175 lbs

The Westfield Mustangs have a great quarterback in [player_tooltip player_id="60727" first="Cardell" last="Williams"]. Williams had an amazing arm throwing great passes throughout the whole game long or short. Qualities I appreciated from Williams was his patience and trust in his offensive line to stay in the pocket and throw. Williams keen precision and awareness make him an outstanding quarterback. Williams is a college prospect having numerous offers from colleges and universities. He has offers from University of Tulsa, Southern University, McNeese State University, Texas Southern University, University of Houston, and University of New Mexico. Williams ended the night with amazing stats he threw three touchdown passes and 218 passing yards.

#1 Dahmeir Scott RB Jr 5’10 200 lbs

Running back Dahmeir Scott has a tremendous amount of speed. As soon as I saw Scott 1st play running the ball I could tell just how fast he was. Scott definitely set the tempo for the offense when it was 3rd down or they desperately needed that 1st down they gave the ball to Scott. Scott ending the night with 19 carries for 105 rushing yards. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Scott in his junior and senior year.

#9 Dominic Bailey TE Sr 6’1 205 lbs

Dominic Bailey might not standout to everyone, but what made him stand out to me was his size and his blocking skills. Bailey was a superb blocker when he didn’t get a chance to run or catch he was blocking. Bailey was able to pave the way for the other wide receivers and running back helping them make their necessary plays. The Spring Lions had a tough defense to stop and Bailey was a main contributor in holding them off.
