On Saturday October 2nd, 2022 two powerhouse high schools played against each other The Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes(4-1) vs The Angleton Wildcats(5-1). Both teams are having a great seasons currently, dominating nearly every team they come across especially Angleton being undefeated. Unfortunately, Angleton suffered their 1st lost in the season from The Hightower Hurricanes with a score of 18-16. It was a really close game either team having the chance to win until the very last second. Although, they lost there is a reason why The Angleton Wildcats have been undefeated until week six. The Angleton Wildcats have a lot of standouts on both sides of the ball that I’ll be discussing.
#25 Myalek Woods RB, CB Jr 5’8
Myalek Woods is a decisive offensive and defensive player. Myalek played both ways and did great at both of them. On defense Myalek is a cornerback using his speed to cover wide receivers. Myalek was good at coverage not leaving much room for Hightower’s wide receivers to get too far. Myalek was even able to break up a touchdown pass keeping Angleton in the game. On offense Myalek was a running back and with his speed he was the main one getting the ball. Not only was Myalek fast he knew how to stay on his feet it was hard to bring him down. Myalek on defense ended with
#9 Kariyen Goins WR, FS Jr 6’2 190 lbs
If I had to use one word to describe Angleton’s wide receiver #9 Kariyen Goins is Goliath. Kariyen is tall with a long reach and long legs. This made it easier for Kariyen to catch passes and when he did he had the speed and stride for a great run. I think Kariyen would be better utilized as a tight end in the future. With his aggression, speed, and his size Kariyen is a great wide receiver and will could be a better tight end. Kariyen ended the night with seven receptions and 115 yards.
#23 Deseahn Thomas RB, S Jr 5’6 155 lbs
Deseahn Thomas is a decisive running back. Deseahn is efficient never wasting any time unnecessary energy. Deseahn has textbook posture and form and he knows how to find the hole or right path to run through. If Deseahn could gain a little more muscle and get more speed he would become a dangerous threat for Hightower. Deseahn ended the night with eight carries for 70 rush yards and rushed in a 20 yard touchdown.
#44 Khai Mcghee DE, TE Jr 6’1 210 lbs
Khai Mcghee is a solid defensive end. Khai usually lined up right between the offensive guard and tackle taking on double teams. That didn’t stop him from getting in the back field however. Khai used his size, strength and quickness to penetrate the double team. If Khai went one on one with the offensive tackle he wasn’t touching Khai. Khai usually beat the offensive tackle off the ball and made it into the backfield. Khai ended the night with seven overall tackles.
