We’re getting closer and closer towards the end of the high school football season and teams are starting to separate themselves from the pack. Players across the state are giving everything they have, and the best are rising to the occasion. After a big week full of important rivalry games, Prep Redzone breaks down some of the top performances from across the state in week 9.
[player_tooltip player_id="95147" first="Christen" last="Miller"] - Defensive Tackle - Cedar Grove
There haven’t been many performances all season that can compare to what Miller did this past Friday night. One of the top-ranked defensive line prospects in the South, the Cedar Grove standout absolutely dominated Westminster, leading the Saints to a 42-10 victory. Miller manhandled his opponent on defense at tackle, and on offensive at tackle as well. He was too big, quick, and powerful for Westminster to handle. Miller made play after play, getting after the QB and blowing up the run game. His quickness off the ball was impressive for someone his size, and his leadership qualities shined through as well. IT was easy to see why teams like Georgia, Ohio State, Southern Cal, and many more are pushing hard for the All-American at this time.

[player_tooltip player_id="95164" first="Jordan" last="McDonald"] - Running Back - Milton
I’m not sure anyone had a better week in Georgia than the big, bruising back out of Milton. The 6-foot-1 220-pounder ran through arch rival Roswell this past weekend, proving that he’s one of the better tackle-breaking backs in the state. In the biggest region game of the season, McDonald was at his very best, rushing 10 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. The three-star also caught three passes for 23 yards and a touchdown, while completing one pass at the goal-line for another touchdown from three yards out. He did EVERYTHING for the Eagles and ended up with five touchdowns in the contest. More importantly, the Eagles came away with a critical 44-34 win and stay undefeated in region play. McDonald would also make his verbal commitment the following day, committing to UCF over South Carolina.

Alexander Diggs - Running Back - Brookwood
Still one of the more underrated backs in the state, Diggs showed once again why he’s capable of playing at the next level. In a big game against the reigning 7A state champion Grayson Rams, Diggs looked like the best player on the field, rushing 14 times for 137 yards rush and three touchdowns. His scores weren’t easy ones, either. Diggs was a big-play waiting to happen all game with touchdown runs of 51 yards, 35 yards and 5 yards. The senior also caught 7 passes for 99 yards out of the backfield in the passing game. He showed exceptional quickness, burst, balance, and explosiveness all night. He runs hard and can break would-be tackles with ease, but has enough speed to fly down the field when given space. He’s been excellent all season and can absolutely play somewhere at the next level.

Keegan Stover - QB - West Forsyth
The Wolverines bounced back in a big way after a couple of recent losses and it was thanks for junior QB Keegan Stover who had arguably his best game as a Wolverine in a big 40-7 region win over Gainesville. Stover was an accurate 24/34 on the night for 281 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed 9 times for 75 yards on the night. He was patient in the pocket and id a nice job of buying time for his receivers to get open. When they did, Stover found them. He led the offense to a big night and was excellent inside the redzone. He distributed the ball well and threw the ball with some zip when he needed too.
