Transcripts: The Rivalry! (10/20/2021)

IT'S THOMAS WEEK!!!!!! A lot of emotions are going through my head as I'm typing this. My alma mater St. Pius X takes on St. Thomas this Friday (10/22/21)! Wednesday, my colleague and I traveled to our old stomping ground to talk with a couple of the players and talk ball, the rivalry, and the season as a whole. <strong>Aden Allen (2023) I DE/TE I #28</strong> It's Thomas Week! How do you feel? <em>"Really its just a regular game to me. A rivalry of course, so we just got to go out a win, and treat it like a regular game. We can't get too excited, play how we've been playing."</em> You guys are currently 3-4, what are your thoughts on the season so far? <em>"We had played some really good teams this season, but everyday is improvement. We take it one week at a time and to keep improving!"</em> I noticed you play both ways (Offense and Defense). Which position do you prefer more and why? <em>"Defensive end because it's defense. I'm not really an offensive guy but I do what I have to do to win."</em> <strong>Burke Battenfield (2022) I RB/LB I #23</strong> It's Thomas Week! How do you feel? <em>"The weeks been good, I've just been focused on the game"</em> You guys are currently 3-4, what are your thoughts on the season so far? <em>"I think we can do better, but we're going to step it up this week!"</em> I noticed you play both ways (Offense and Defense). Which position do you prefer more and why? <em>"I prefer LB, because I like to make plays on defense."</em> <strong>Nethaneel Loolo (2023) I WR/DB I #2</strong> It's Thomas Week! How do you feel? "To be honest, it's just a regular game. I'm going to do me, I'm going to turn up." You guys are currently 3-4, what are your thoughts on the season so far? <em>"It's been some tough loses, we have to recoup, get back to together and do what we need to do."</em> I noticed you play both ways (Offense and Defense). Which position do you prefer more and why? <em>"I like corner, cause I feel like I'm being myself."</em> <strong>Jackson Mobley (2023) I WR/DB I #4</strong> <strong>Note:</strong> Mobley also plays baseball, he plays short stop and 3rd baseman! It's Thomas Week! How do you feel? <em>"I'm feeling good, it's been a hard practice. I think Coach has been pushing us. Been talking to us and giving us motivation. It's maybe not how the season's been going, but its what we can do from here. I think that's big motivation on how we can proceed and do better, especially coming in to this game."</em> You guys are currently 3-4, what are your thoughts on the season so far? <em>"I think we have been battling, we have been playing hard. We've had some injuries, but I think as a team we've just been trying to push and it hasn't gone our way. I think that our team has a lot of heart, and we've been continuing to play hard, practice hard, and done everything we're supposed to do. I think its all going to come together, hopefully this week, because we've been practicing hard."</em> I noticed you play both ways (Offense and Defense). Which position do you prefer more and why? "<em>I prefer WR (slot receiver)…it's what I've been playing since freshman year. I'm the most comfortable at it. I like to play defense too just to help my team, but I'm definitely more comfortable at receiver."</em> <strong>Vincent Doucet (2023) I WR/SS I #9</strong> It's Thomas Week! How do you feel? <em>"I'm just looking forward to Friday night. It's a rival game, so of course it means something else compared to all the others. And really that's it, I just look forward to the game. that night...that's when I get ready."</em> You guys are currently 3-4, what are your thoughts on the season so far? <em>"You know there's room for improvement. I mean there are a lot of injuries in the way too, but it's still an effort thing. I think we could have done our best, offensively and defensively. Personally, I think I've been satisfied with how we've been defensively, but in some roles we need to step it up."</em> I noticed you play both ways (Offense and Defense). Which position do you prefer more and why? "<em>Well, I've been playing receiver all my life, but, I really do like the feel of defense. That feeling you get when tackling, it's just something else. I really want to get better at S, and really add that as my number 1 position."</em> <em>Man </em>Thomas week use to be high energy and high effort the entire week! Watching the practice Wednesday gave me that the (3-4) Panthers will take down the (6-2) Eagles. Good luck tonight fellas and Go Panthers! &nbsp;
