This season has already started to produce some head-turning freshmen ready to show that they got game. This article will highlight a few players that have come on strong to start their freshman campaign.
Gone are the days were the freshmen are the bottom of the totem pole, old uniform-wearing, leaky water bottle drinking, tackling pad holding scrubs of yesteryear, no… these freshmen,.. the class of 2025… is different!
Tyson Terry Tyson Terry 6'2" | 270 lbs | DL Omaha North | 2025 State NE (DL) – Omaha North
6’2″ 255 lbs | Hudl
Terry has been an absolute terror at the defensive end this year. As a freshman, he has broken out in a huge way and has carved out a role on a dangerous Vikings DL. Terry is great at shedding his blocks and can break into the backfield to stop run plays. He’s a very instinctual player and reacts quickly; one play I liked was where he wasn’t going to get to the QB, but he was smart and got his hands up and ended up swatting away the pass. As a freshman, he’s making smart plays, great reads (does great defending play-action), and is very athletic for his size and age. Tyson “Scary” Terry is going to be haunting QB’s nightmares for the following years.
Omaha Burke Freshman Trio:
Omaha Burke has experienced the emergence of several young stars in their freshman class. After a tough start to the season, things have begun to gel for the freshman (and the team in general), helping Burke roll to a 5-1 record. Three freshmen, in particular, have stood out on both defense and offense. Cameron Bell Cameron Bell 6'0" | 280 lbs | DL Omaha Westside | 2025 State NE is a starter on the offensive line and has helped the offense dominate in recent weeks. He’s extremely athletic and possesses excellent lateral agility and power when pulling. Jones I predict will be next in line after Devon Jackson Devon Jackson 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Omaha Burke | 2022 State NE ’s departure. He is so dangerous off the edge and can get in the quarterback’s face. He easily finds his way to the ball carrier and has recorded four sacks and 7 TFLs on the season. Besides the epic name, Titan Glassman Titan Glassman 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Omaha Westside | 2025 State NE has looked like a beast for the Burke secondary. Glassman has very fluid hips and can change direction and pursue in a snap. He has displayed his ball skills and ability to create turnovers with two interceptions on the year, coming off of terrific coverage plays. Burke should be pleased about the play of their star freshman.

Mikey Gow Mikey Gow 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Bellevue East | 2025 OK (QB) – Bellevue East
6’1″ 178 lbs | Hudl
Mikey Gow Mikey Gow 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Bellevue East | 2025 OK , the Bellevue East QB, has gained a ton of traction on the recruiting trail. He’s drawn interests from several programs like Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma State, and many more. Gow has displayed several glimpses of his arm talent and potential. As a freshman, he’s shown he can throw the ball downfield with accuracy, lead an offense, and has proven his toughness. He has a great set of throwing mechanics that will only continue to sharpen as he develops and build chemistry with his teammates. Gow is going to be fun to watch in the next few years.
Keynan Cotton Keynan Cotton 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH Omaha Westside | 2025 State NE (DB) – Papillion – La Vista
5’9″ 165 lbs | Hudl
One player that should be gaining more attention is Keynan Cotton Keynan Cotton 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH Omaha Westside | 2025 State NE , the DB for the Monarchs. I watched the PLV vs. Lincoln Southeast game, and I had to keep checking to make sure it said Cotton was a freshman. Although there were still a few growing pains, he showed several flashes of developing into a top-tier corner prospect in Nebraska. He was very fluid, quick, shifty, and can change direction with ease. He’s played against some good passing attacks and has been able to make some great plays, and showed his lockdown ability. As he gets more experience, he will pick up the nuances of the position and will make Qbs think twice about throwing it his way.
