Here are some big-time senior wide receivers who are having a great start to the season…
Travis Hunter – Collins Hill
Hunter may be out for a few weeks due to an injury this past weekend, but Hunter has been the state’s top receiver once again this season through the first six weeks of the season. The top prospect in the nation, Hunter is an elite athlete who could start day 1 for Florida State at both wide receiver or defensive back. He has a long frame at 6-foot-1 75-pounds with elite ball skills and athleticism. He has incredible body control, great speed, and reliable hands. He can run with anyone he goes up against and has natural instincts that make your jaw drop. He’s been unstoppable so far this season, catching 46 passes for 691 yards and five touchdowns.
Daveon Walker – Warner Robins
The Warner Robins offense is clicking on all cylinders right now and look unstoppable through the first third of the season. The Demons have scored at least 48 points in every game so far and are off to an impressive 6-0 start. A big reason why is the play of senior, Daveon Walker. One of the top playmakers in Middle Georgia, Walker is a 6-foot-2 180-pound possession receiver with 4.61 40-yard dash speed. Walker has some of the best hands in the state and does a nice job of turning and twisting his body in the air to make a tough grab. He can reach back and snag the ball when it’s thrown behind him and makes it look easy while he does it. He’s been a reliable weapon once again for the Demons in the passing game and is off to an excellent start to his senior season, catching 33 passes so far for 681 yards and 7 touchdowns. He’s scored four touchdowns in the last two games and will find pay-dirt a few more times before the season’s end.
Kaleb Webb – McEachern
The Indians are off to a slow start to the season, but receiver Kaleb Webb sure isn’t. A breakout performer from week one, the senior hasn’t slowed down this season and has been one of the more productive receivers in the region. He has good size at 6-foot-3 190-pounds and has caught everything near him so far this season. He’s coming off his biggest game of the season this past game, catching 11 passes for 122 yards in a loss to Milton. He runs well for his size, he changes direction well, and he has big, strong hands. So far this season, Webb has caught 37 passes for 592 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s been a major surprise across the state and producing more and more by the week.
Terrell Carmicheal – Carrollton
The Carrollton Trojans are back to dominance this year and off to a great 5-1 start to the season. The West Georgia program is playing very well at the moment thanks to their high-flying passing attack. Senior QB MJ Morris has found a big playmaker this year in senior Terrell Carmicheal Terrell Carmicheal 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Carrollton | 2022 GA . Another bigger, possesion receiver who can run at 6-foot-1 190-pounds, Carmicheal is been productive and consistent all season long so far. He’s been one of the biggest surprised in the region and looks to be coming into his own this year. He hasn’t caught a ton of passes so far, but when he does make an impact, it’s a big one. He only has 18 receptions so far this year, but he’s getting an average of 27.2 yards per reception. He’s also scored seven touchdowns so far. Look for him to continue putting up big numbers with Morris throwing him the ball.
Danny Curran – Lassiter
It hasn’t been a great year so far for the 2-4 Lassiter Trojans, but senior receiver Danny Curran has been one of the few bright spots on the team. The impressive 6-foot-2 175-pounder has been a reliable pass catcher all season and has been on a tear through the first few games. He’s coming off a tough outing this past weekend in a loss to Kennesaw Mountain, but he was outstanding until then. Curran has caught 10+ passes in three games already and has produced at least 100+ receiving yards in four of the teams first six games. He’s only found the endzone twice, but he’s been an excellent and reliable weapon on a weekly basis so far. He’s a good athlete, runs a crisp route, and has consistent hands. So far this season, Curran has caught 49 passes for 592 yards.
