On Friday October 15, 2021 I decided to go to the Pearland Dawson Eagles (5-2) vs Strake Jesuit Crusaders (2-5) football game. The Dawson Eagles had a great offense, but the Strake Jesuit Crusaders defense just kept on making stop after stop. For a good while the game was at a standstill with both teams defense dominating the game. However, Dawson started to pick up momentum during the 2nd quarter and kept on scoring. The game seemed like it was over by the 3rd quarter, but Strake Jesuit’s defense continued to make stops and their offense started to score point as well. The game went down to the wire, but The Dawson Eagles came out on top with a close score of 24-21. The Dawson Eagles had a lot of standouts on both sides of the ball that I’ll be discussing.
#2 Ryan Guillo Sr WR 6’0 180 lbs
This young man Ryan Guillo was the main wide receiver for The Dawson Eagles. Ryan was quick and fast off the ball with great footwork. Ryan was able to put separation between him and his defender and was in a great position to catch the ball. Whenever, Ryan got the ball he was explosive he was a very powerful runner breaking through tackles and stiff arming to get into the end zone. Ryan finished the night with six receptions and 155 yards and scored two touchdowns.
#4 Jaiden Walker Sr SS 5’8
One of the main defensive players was strong safety Jaiden Walker. Jaiden was a very fast safety and also very aggressive. Jaiden didn’t like to wait for the action to come to him, but went after it. Jaiden made six overall tackles, but assisted in a lot more. Jaiden was able to stop the Crusaders in their tracks by catching an interception Jaiden’s presence on the field was massive I could just tell that he was a great safety and by the end of his senior he’ll be a top college prospect.
#5 Bryce Burgess So RB
Bryce Burgess is a strong and fast running back. For Bryce just being a sophomore Bryce is a very experienced runner. If Bryce saw a path or opening there was no catching him. Bryce’s speed makes him standout he was also strong enough to break through the defensive line and get yards. Bryce also had a mean stiff arm. Bryce by his senior year will be a top college prospect. Bryce at the end of the night had a total of 19 carries with 125 rushing yards and one touchdown.
#35 Max Menendez So LB
Max Menendez is a strong defensive line backer. Max was all over the field and making tackles almost every play. While at the game I feel like I was always hearing the announcing saying “Max Menendez was on the stop.” Max also had great tackling form never miss an open field tackle. I’m expecting a lot from Max Menendez while in his next three years on the Dawson Eagles football team.
