Ed O’Brien’s Stock-Riser Update: NJ Class of 2023 Quarterbacks

Prep Redzone has updated the list of Class of 2023 Stock Risers at the quarteback position in the state of New Jersey. We have an update on a few prospects that were previously mentioned in past articles. There are also newcomers to the list. He’s thrown eight interceptions during a rough start to the season (1-5 record). <strong>No. 15 [player_tooltip player_id="207216" first="Riley" last="Piscitelli"] | 6-1 | 170 | Monroe</strong> Piscitelli has completed 59-of-86 passes for 776 yards 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions through his first five games. He’s hit a bit of a rough patch in the past couple of weeks as his team has lost three straight games. <strong>No. 12 [player_tooltip player_id="214412" first="Anthony" last="Jehn"] | 6-3 | 185 | Monmouth</strong> Jehn has been a big reason for his team’s 5-1 start to the season. He has completed 64-of-118 passes for 872 yards, nine touchdowns <strong>No. 11 [player_tooltip player_id="207221" first="Sean" last="Clark"] | 6-3 | 205 | Randolph</strong> <span style="font-size: 1rem;">Prevous ranking: N/A</span> Clark has completed 89-of-150 passes for 1,198 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interceprtion the first six games of thes season. He completed 17-of-24 passes for 224 yards and four touchdowns during a 41-6 win over Morris Knolls on Oct. 8. <strong>No. 10 [player_tooltip player_id="207206" first="Corey" last="Petruzzella"] | 6-1 | 165 | Paramus</strong> Prevous ranking: N/A Pertuzzella has established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in his class so far in his first three games. He’s completed 71-of-125 passes for 962 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. Petruzzella has also carried the football 78 times for 346 yards and seven touchdowns. <strong>No. 9 [player_tooltip player_id="214413" first="Frankie" last="Garbolino"] | 6-2 | 190 | North Brunswick</strong> Prevous ranking: N/A Garbolino has completed 78-of-122 passes for 1,109 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three interceptions in his first six games this season. <strong>No. 7 [player_tooltip player_id="214414" first="Van" last="Weber"] | 6-2 | 155 | Rutherford</strong> Prevous ranking: N/A Weberhad done a good job in his first fix games as a varsity starting quarterback. He has completed 69-of-108 passses for 1,138 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions. I would like to see a better touchdown-to-interception ration, but his wins-to-losses ratio more than makes up for that. Rutherford is currently 5-1. <strong>No. 6 [player_tooltip player_id="214415" first="Bryan" last="Johnson"] | Woodbury</strong> Prevous ranking: N/A Johnson has already doubled his output from the 2020 season in the first six games of the 2021 season. He has completed 79-of-1217 passes for 1,330 yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Has has three games so far this season where he has thrown for four touchdowns. No. 5 [player_tooltip player_id="124480" first="Frankie" last="Farmer"] | 6-2 | 195 | Peddie School Farmer has completed 48-of-88 passes for 1,023 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception in his first four games. <strong>No. 3 [player_tooltip player_id="118977" first="Jack" last="Grusser"] | 6-1 | 180 | Ramapo</strong> Prevous ranking: No. 10 We took a wait-and-see approach with Grusser. We’ve seen enough. He’s completed 72-of-103 passes for 1,325 yards, 16 touchdowns, and two interceptions in six games. Russo has also carried the football 29 times for 339 yards, and eight touchdowns. It goes without saying that the wait to see Grusser has been well worth it.
