Southern California Top Defensive Performances: Week 7

<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="25234" first="David" last="Bailey"], Mater Dei, 2022</strong> Bailey is one of the most physically gifted edge rushers I have ever seen at the high school level. He is a 6-foot-5, 225 pound outside backer who is very physical. He led the team with seven tackles and two sacks in a win against Orange Lutheran last week. Coach Bruce Rollinson is always very complimentary of Bailey and it’s surprising he doesn’t have more offers. https://twitter.com/MDFootball/status/1448088865735122952?s=20 <strong>Ethan Bowser, Muir, 2023</strong> Bowser is a 6-foot-2, 220 pound defensive tackle for Muir who is constantly in the mix on every defensive play. He’s one of those players you hear called on the loud speaker frequently. He had 13 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in a 30-0 win over Arcadia. Bowser has 35 tackles on the season with four sacks and two forced fumbles. https://twitter.com/EthanBowser54/status/1446945591242547202?s=20 <strong>Takhari Carr, Dominguez, 2022</strong> Carr is a really good athlete who excels at basketball but has great natural instincts on the football field. He is right around 6-feet tall on a good day and was First Team All-San Gabriel Valley League in the spring. He had two interceptions that he returned for 47 yards in a 57-0 win over Gahr. Carr also returned a punt 48 yards. He has an offer from Idaho. https://twitter.com/pupzilla4_/status/1396688278498078724?s=20 <strong>Orlando Castillo, Mission Bay, 2024</strong> Mission Bay needed every bit of its great defensive performance in a 29-22 win over Crawford. The Buccaneers had 19 tackles for a loss which is outstanding. Castillo had four tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in the win. The sophomore linebacker also recovered a fumble. It was by far the best game of his young career and Mission Bay may have a young defensive star on its hands. https://twitter.com/RedJacketArmy/status/1446657277360963587?s=20 <strong>William Schultz, Culver City, 2022</strong> Schultz had the best defensive performance of the week in Southern California. The senior had an insane five interceptions in a win against Redondo Union. It was his second game of the season with multiple interceptions but five is an incredible number.
