Thomas Wurtsbaugh – Concord – WR/DB – 6’1″ 160 lbs
Right when Concord needed a big play Thomas came through. Their offense just stalled and the game was now tied. Wurtsbaugh made the play on Special Teams and lit up the punt returner. The ball was loose and Concord recovered. On the very next play offensively Concord scored and took the lead. They never looked back and it was the momentum forced on Special Teams.
Malik Washington – Mishawaka – FS – 5’11” 170 lbs
Washington is Mishawaka’s leader on the defense and he made big plays on Friday. He had 11 tackles and then 2 TFL and then added an interception to that total. He was all over the field and they eventually started going out of their way to avoid Washington. He even returned a punt for 47-yards as well.
Sam Russo – Elkhart – QB/FS – 5’8″ 170 lbs
Russo is a fantastic athlete and he plays on both sides of the ball. He helped lead Elkhart on offense but then he turned around and was making plays on defense. Marian was driving and in the RedZone. This is where Russo playing QB came into fruition. He was able to read the offensive play and he jumped the route and made a huge interception.
Reece Greene – Bremen – QB/FS – 5’7″ 145 lbs
Greene is the leader for Bremen on offense and defense. He’s going to make plays and he’s always by the ball. He is a ball magnet and he seems to force a turnover a game. He punched one out on Friday and then recovered it. He picked it up and raced down the field before being tackled at the 5-yard line. He scored an offensive TD on the very next play.
Ethan Hochstetler – Fairfield – MLB – 5’11” 170 lbs
Hochstetler is one of those gritty players that you love having on your team. He plays every down like it’s his last and he’s going to play to the whistle. He’s a decent athlete and makes every play that comes his way. He comes to balance and makes nice form tackles. He was blowing up the running game all night and had 6 TFL as well. He’s the leader of that defense and as long as he’s on the field he’s going to make plays.
