Antonio Cruz Blair
Cruz is one of the biggest linemen in the county. He is also quietly one of the best. He is very strong and has great hands. He is able to get inside position and finish off blocks. On defense, he is used as a run-stuffer in short-yardage situations. Once Cruz gets his hands on a defender they are effectively out the play. Cruz will be a big player during Blair’s playoff run.
Jonathan Cubias Rockville
Rockville may have been disappointed with their performance against Damascus but they had a couple of standouts. Cubias was one of those guys. He played the edge well. He also showed great discipline and played contain and didn’t chase anything backside. Cubias showed that he is a well-disciplined edge player, which is the best kind of edge player.
Marcus Pedone Richard Montgomery
Pedone is usually known for putting on a show with the ball in his hands. He was good with the ball in his hands Friday but he was also a big factor on defense as well. He was fantastic at corners as he broke up passes and also showed the ability to come downfield and make plays in run support. Pedone has been really special for Richard Montgomery this year.
Okeyo Ayungo Rockville
Rockville needed to find a way to get the ball in Ayungo’s hands and they did just that. Ayungo was dynamic with the ball in his hands. He is an explosive player that is a big-play threat. He was the best athlete on the field Friday and showed off why. Rockville would be wise to continue to feed Ayungo especially once they get into the playoffs.
Anthony Dixon Richard Montgomery
Dixon went into the Richard Montgomery record books after his performance against Walter Johnson. He went 20-31 for 305 yards and 6 touchdowns. The most impressive part is that Dixon is only a sophomore. Dixon is a guy to keep an eye out for the next couple of years.
