There were plenty of standout performances on Saturday of Week 6 in the St. Louis area, including three Hazelwood Central players and a University of Missouri commitment who tallied five touchdowns in a big win.
Here is a quick look at some of the players who stood out:
<strong>QB [player_tooltip player_id="122413" first="Bryson" last="Brown"], 6-5, 175, Hazelwood Central, 2022</strong>
Brown completed 11 of 19 passes for 192 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception, in a 35-0 win over Hazelwood West. He also added a rushing touchdown as Hazelwood Central improved to 6-0. The Hawks also got 100-plus yard rushing days from workhorses [player_tooltip player_id="178556" first="Lionel" last="Banks"] (156 yards rushing, one touchdown) and [player_tooltip player_id="103085" first="Jamarion" last="Price"] (118 yards rushing, one touchdown).
<strong>QB [player_tooltip player_id="195787" first="LaVonta" last="Clerk"], Soldan, </strong>
Clerk completed eight of 12 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-0 win over visiting Confluence. Clerk also ran once for 25 yards. Soldan improved to 4-1. WR <strong>Ricky Washington</strong> (6-2, 175, 2022) caught three passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.
<strong>QB [player_tooltip player_id="37602" first="Duncan" last="Cloniger"], 6-2, 190, John Burroughs, 2022</strong>
Cloniger completed 22 of 30 passes for 240 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception, in a 21-20 loss to Priory. He also ran for a touchdown. For the season, Cloniger has completed 73 percent of his passes for 1,341 yards and 17 touchdowns (against six interceptions) and has three rushing touchdowns.
<strong>ATH [player_tooltip player_id="203629" first="Hasaan" last="Cody"], Jennings, 2022</strong>
Cody rushed 12 times for 187 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-8 win over visiting Normandy. He also returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Donta Williams as Jennings improved to 4-2.
<strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="173615" first="Clayshaun" last="Davis"], 6-2, 180, Hazelwood Central, 2022</strong>
Davis caught three passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the Hawks’ win over Hazelwood West. In six games this season, Davis has 19 catches for 371 yards and six touchdowns, with four of those scores coming in the past two games.
<strong>QB [player_tooltip player_id="197576" first="Gerard" last="Grewe"], 6-3, 210, Priory, 2023</strong>
Grewe rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries and threw for 87 yards and a touchdown in a 21-20 road win at John Burroughs. For the season, Grewe has passed for 1,081 yards and 10 touchdowns (against five interceptions) and run for 732 yards and 11 scores. He’s established himself as a really intriguing prospect with good size.
<strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="37530" first="Caleb" last="Merritt"], 6-0, 180, John Burroughs, 2022</strong>
A Wyoming commitment, Merritt caught nine passes for 121 yards and ran for 73 yards on five carries in a 21-20 loss to Priory. For the season, Merritt has 726 total yards (496 receiving, 230 rushing) and eight touchdowns in six games. He has two kickoff return touchdowns.
<strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="212002" first="Nathan" last="Ryan"], Troy Buchanan, 2022</strong>
Ryan caught five passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns in Troy’s win over Timberland. <span style="font-size: 1rem;">In six games this season, Ryan has 23 receptions for 547 yards and five touchdowns, including three in the past two games. </span>
<strong>QB [player_tooltip player_id="37718" first="Charos" last="Sutton"], Troy Buchanan, 2023</strong>
Sutton completed 14 of 27 passes for 267 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and ran for 65 yards on 10 carries in a 49-35 win over visiting Timberland. In six games this season, Sutton has thrown for 1,013 yards and 11 touchdowns (against four interceptions), rushed for 456 yards and eight touchdowns and also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass.
<strong>LB [player_tooltip player_id="211990" first="Jayden" last="Trotter"], 6-0, 190, Hazelwood Central, 2023</strong>
Trotter racked up nine tackles and two sacks in Central’s 35-0 win over Hazelwood West. In five games this season he has 49 tackles, three sacks and an interception.
<strong>ATH [player_tooltip player_id="37542" first="Ja’Marion" last="Wayne"], Parkway West, 2022</strong>
A Missouri commitment, Wayne scored five touchdowns and had 110 total yards in a win at McCluer North. He caught four passes for 89 yards and four touchdowns, ran for 21 yards, added an interception and a fumble recovery and scored on a return.
