Jack Grusser Jack Grusser 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Ramapo | 2023 State NJ , Ramapo
Quarterback Traits : Anticipation, Ball Placement
On the first throw, he starts back in shotgun off a play-action fake, takes a three-step drop, and throws a beautiful deep ball for a big gain. The beautiful thing about the throw is he threw it before his wide receiver was even open or had a step on the safety. Due to the safety taking himself out of position, the ball is already in the air displaying the anticipatory skills that are required to throw receivers open and create windows that aren’t necessarily there. In addition, he shows great accuracy to place the ball on the receiver’s upfield shoulder, which does two things. One, it takes the safety out of the play not giving him or anyone else an opportunity to make a play on the ball; Two, this is an accurate football that allows the receiver to get yards after the catch, and on this play, his attention to detail, ultimately, led to a huge play.

Quarterback Traits: Navigating Pressure, Throwing with Touch
This throw is simply beautiful. With much pressure coming off of his right side he takes a couple of steps to his left and off-balance delivers a ball that is able to float over two defenders, that not only doesn’t go out of bounds but gives the receiver an opportunity to make an impressive catch for a first down. The one thing that will get noticed and translate almost immediately is being able to make ACCURATE throws under pressure. On this throw, he maintained his poise despite facing adverse circumstances; all traits needed to succeed at higher levels of football.

Frankie Farmer Frankie Farmer 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Peddie | 2023 State NJ , Peddie Schoool
Quarterback Trait: Arm Strength, Ball Placement
This is a great throw to asses arm strength. First and foremost the receiver runs a great post route to destroy the safties’ leverage and create much separation. Farmer, off a five-step drop, throws it on his last step throwing it on time and in rhythm. Showing the arm strength to drive the ball over the middle of the field. Most importantly, the ball was placed out in front away from the defender; giving the receiver the opportunity to make a play after the catch. The strength to drive this ball over the middle of the field was impressive but the placement of the ball was the most important. Ball placement is the proper way to access quarterback accuracy and being accurate further down the football field is what separates good quarterbacks from great ones.

Bryan Johnson Bryan Johnson 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Woodbury | 2023 State NJ , Woodbury
Quarterback Trait: Eye Manipulation
One of the more underrated traits at the quarterback position but it goes back to fundamentals and practicing the small details that make great quarterbacks. On this throw, there was one deep safety in the middle of the field, and the route that was thrown for a touchdown was an in-breaking route. From the start, it’s already a great play call but the whole play lives and dies with moving the single-high safety with your eyes to create a throwing lane. Johnson does it very quickly making that safety move just enough to deliver an accurate football for a touchdown. Would love to see him be just a little more deliberate with his eyes even though this specific safety wasn’t making a play on the ball either way. A smarter safety would’ve baited him into an interception and a more athletic safety would’ve been able to make a play on the football. Most importantly, he delivered this football accurately and on time which ultimately lead to a touchdown.
