On Saturday October 2nd, 2022 two powerhouse high schools played against each other The Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes(4-1) vs The Angleton Wildcats(5-1). Both teams are having a great seasons currently, dominating nearly every team they come across especially Angleton being undefeated. However, Angleton suffered their 1st lost from The Hightower Hurricanes with a score of 18-16. It was a really close game either team having the chance to win until the very last second. The Hightower Hurricanes had a lot of offensive standouts that I’ll be discussing.
#28 Frederick Hankins MLB, RB Sr 5’10 230 lbs
A dependable and valuable running back is #28 Frederick Hankins. Frederick isn’t one of the fastest or quickest running backs, but that man has size and power. Frederick is your standard power back you give him the ball to break through the defensive line and get 1st downs. Whenever, Frederick wasn’t running the ball he was blocking providing support to his other running backs and quarterback. Frederick ended the night with five carries with 30 rushing yards.
#26 Jeremy Payne RB, KR So 5’10 170 lbs
Now this is a fast running back #26 Jeremy Payne. Whenever, Jeremy got the ball in his hand he took off, zooming pass Angleton’s defense. Jeremy footwork and quickness really stood out to me. Jeremy also had great awareness he was always able to find the right path and hole to go through. Jeremy still has a lot of room to grow especially his size. If Jeremy was able to get his body weight up and more muscle he could be unstoppable. Especially since, Jeremy is only in his sophomore year. I’m expecting a lot of progress from Jeremy in his next three years of football. Jeremy ended the night with eight carries for 90 rushing yards.
#13 Andreas Missick-Duncombe RB Sr 5’10 180 lbs
Another fast, but more experienced running back is #13 Andreas Missick-Duncombe. When Andreas got the ball in his hand he definitely got results. Andreas was fast enough to zoom pass Angleton’s defense and strong enough to break tackles. Andreas ended the night with 13 carries with 75 yards and rushed in a 32-yard touchdown.
#1 Kaleb Johnson WR Sr 5’9 165 lbs
The offensive player that stood out the most on The Hightower Hurricanes was wide receiver #1 Kaleb Johnson. Kaleb is a beast and the fastest player on the offense. Kaleb couldn’t be covered when he took off down field for passes he was usually wide open. Despite his weight, Kaleb was strong enough to break tackles he was able to break a tackle at the 1 yard line for a huge touchdown. I’m expecting a lot more progress and recognize for Kaleb in his senior year. Kaleb will definitely become a top prospect before the end of the year. Kaleb ended the night with 12 receptions for 200 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
