Before this week the last two meetings have been super close, Gretna won 31-28 and before that Skutt won 10-9. This game was expected to be another great addition to this rivalry. This was not a close game and is the most Gretna has beat Skutt by in a long time.
The game starts out with its kickoff Skutt kick and Gretna returns and goes far around midfield before giving up the ball. Skutt would then drive down the field creating a tough situation for Gretna and then……. Zane Flores launches the ball and scores tying the game at 7-7 after this Flores and The Dragons get the ball close just for Mick Huber to punch it in making it 14-7. Skutt throws an interception leading Gretna to score again making it 21-7. After that, it was over by half time the score was 42-7 and the game would end at 49-14 Gretna would not let up especially their defense. Blayke Moore and Bryce Volcheck Bryce Volcheck 5'9" | 150 lbs | DB Gretna | 2022 State NE both having interceptions, Connor Edwards Connor Edwards 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Gretna | 2022 State NE having a sack. Mick Huber, Korver Demma, and Conner Edwards would lead Gretna with tackles. Demma with 5, Huber with 6, and Edwards with 7. Gretna’s offense dominated as well Flores threw for 300 yards and 6 touchdowns. Mick Huber having the only rushing touchdown all gears turned for the Dragons. Skutt was able to push and get some turnovers, they were able to get some quick drives and get some points showing they weren’t able to get fully brought down.

Gretna Takeaways
- The Dragons continued their great offensive production this week, scoring so much and scoring fast.
- Scoring fast with 28 points in only the first quarter alone, they had explosive drives and plays that help push the score up more and more.
- The Dragon’s defense held up very well stopping the Skutt offense fast right after their first touchdown.
Skutt Takeaways
- Skutt’s offense has had issues like this before, but when they need to fight against stronger defenses just like they had against Bennington.
- The Skyhawks defense has to be able to get pressure onto quarterbacks they cannot let QB’s like Flores sit back and throw it to open receivers.
- Skutt has let receivers get open not covering them downfield if they want to get better they need to hold strong on that one and one matchup.
