There were some players who had good games on Friday and were rewarded a game ball for their efforts. Here’s a look at those players who did a good job for the Mavericks.
Corby Tecu Corby Tecu 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Mead | 2022 State CO , 2022, 6’2, 215, RB/LB
One of the top prospects for the team, Tecu is a well-built athlete with a solid frame and good athletic ability. He has the speed to get to the edge and run away from defenders, but he is very good between the tackles at lowering his shoulders and getting yards after contact. He scored the touchdown for Mead on the opening drive of the game. His skills translate to defense as well, where he speed can get him to the ball carrier and his physicality can lead to some big tackles. Tecu is committed to play lacrosse at Drexel University after high school.
Tommy Tatham, 2022, 6’2, 240, DL
Tatham is a big presence up front for the Mead defense. He can take on blocks up the middle and showed the ability to get in the backfield. When in the backfield, he showed the athleticism to chase down the quarterback and even get a sack. His contributions up front will also allow his linebackers behind him to roam free and make plays because of him. If Tatham continues to play well up front, the Mead defense has a chance to be strong.
Evan Morris, 2022, 5’11, 215, RB/LB
Morris is a steady presence in the run game. He did a good job between the tackles to get some tough yards that kept the team ahead of the sticks. When he got to the second level, he could get away for a good run with his speed. And his ability to draw defenders can also make him a good decoy when the team wants to use its speed backs for an outside run as well. On defense, Morris did a good job getting some tackles and finding his way to the football.
