It was a top five match-up in Class 6A-1 as Broken Arrow finally opened up their home schedule against the top ranked Jenks Trojans. It would be Jenks using a combination of a fast start, steady rushing attack and stingy defense to improve to 4-1 on the season and hand Broken Arrow the 31-14 loss on Friday night.
Jenks wouldn’t take long to see some fireworks on the road as they scored on their second play with a 61-yard bomb from freshman Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK to senior Glenny Jones Glenny Jones 5'10" | ATH Jenks | 2022 State OK . Things went from bad to worse as BA would throw an interception on their first possession and the Trojans would score again on a Reisig to Jones pass to go up 14-0. However, the Tigers would roar back immediately. They would score on their next possession on a short Griffin Stieber Griffin Stieber 6'4" | 225 lbs | QB Broken Arrow | 2022 State OK touchdown pass. Then on the first play of the next Jenks possession, Reisig would get intercepted by junior Dietrich Moore Dietrich Moore 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Broken Arrow | 2023 State OK and the Tiger standout would take it into the end zone for a pick six and the Tigers were back in business, knotting the game up at 14.
The Trojans would immediately respond with a Jalyn Stanford Jalyn Stanford 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Jenks | 2023 State OK 47-yard run on their next possession. They would then convert several third downs and the drive ended with Reisig tossing his third and final touchdown of the night, this time to junior running back Jaiden Carroll Jaiden Carroll 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Jenks | 2023 State OK . Broken Arrow would fumble on their next possession and the Trojans added another touchdown when Stanford scored from a few yards out to make it 28-14 going into halftime.
The only scoring in the second half would be a 49-yard field goal from Jenks senior Max Paskvan Max Paskvan 6'2" | 175 lbs | K Jenks | 2022 State OK and then both teams traded several three and out possessions. Neither team would score again and the Trojans would improve to 4-1 behind a dominant performance from their defense and a very balanced offensive effort.

TURNING POINT
The turning point in this one came early on in the second quarter. After Jenks led 21-14 after one quarter, the Tigers were driving into Jenks territory but the Trojans would punch the ball out of the BA ball carrier’s hands and come up with the fumble recovery. Jenks would then march down the field and double up the score, leading 28-14. The Tigers would threaten at various times throughout the rest of the game but the end result was never really in doubt.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Jenks Line Of Scrimmage
Yes, it’s a cop out. But how can we not give another shout out to the dominant offensive and defensive lines for the Trojans. Not only did the offensive line help Jenks finish with over 200 yards rushing and had not one but two players around the 100 yard mark, but the defensive line made things a nightmare for the Broken Arrow offense. Whether it was holding the Tigers to just 17 rushing yards or consistently putting pressure on Broken Arrow’s quarterback, the Tigers could never get into a rhythm and a big reason was the defensive line’s performance.
WHAT’S NEXT
Broken Arrow: AT Edmond Memorial
The Tigers should be able to bounce back in week six as they hit the road once again but this time they travel to Edmond to face Edmond Memorial. The Tigers are 7-0 against the Bulldogs since the 6A split in 2014 and they beat them 46-3 last season.
Jenks: VS Norman
The Trojans will welcome in Norman in week six as they look to remain the top team in 6A-1. Jenks has owned the Tigers since the 6A split in 2014. They’ve won all seven meetings, including last year when they won 42-13. They have a 9-1 advantage in the all time series.
