Programs around the nation are gearing up for the FBU National Championship tournament and holding tryouts to find the best athletes in their area to compete. The FBU National Championship tournament celebrates and promotes youth football through uniting all-star athletes of all backgrounds from across the United States in a true, one-of-a-kind national tournament. The only national football tournament of its kind, the annual FBU National Championship crowns a national champion from brackets in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. On October 3rd, there was a big turn out for the GMSAA team tryout at Walton High School.  Athletes across all three grade levels came out and impressed–with dozens that could easily be featured below. The kids went through a 40-yard dash, cone drills, and much more to show off their talents. There are plenty of young players in Middle School who stepped up and had a big day. This class of athletes did what many followers of this tournament, thought could never be done--win the whole doggone thing.  Let's take a look at how the defending National Champs are starting to re-load. <strong><img class="alignleft wp-image-217342 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/10/JorianBailey2027-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" />Jorian Bailey | 7th Grade - Class of 2027 | Offensive Line</strong> One of the bigger, more physical linemen in the group, the big Cartersville native looked good in drills and brought a physical presence to the camp. He’s bigger than almost everyone his age at 5-foot-9 205-pounds, and he can overpower smaller kids in his area. He looks the part for his size, now it’s about developing and getting stronger. He easily stood out as a young offensive line prospect. <strong><img class="alignleft wp-image-217343 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/10/BraydenStoker2027-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" />Brayden Stoker | 7th Grade - Class of 2027 | Athlete</strong> A jumbo-athlete type, Stoker was very impressive, even with a cast on. He’s a bigger kid with good athleticism who can really run. He looked like a young high school out there with a bunch over average 7th grade players. The North Georgia standout can play any position asked of him right now, from QB to DL to DB to RB to even more. He’s a true athlete who will be able to play wherever he’s needed to at the next level. [caption id="attachment_217344" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="wp-image-217344 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/10/ChrisMiller2027-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> Photo: Submitted[/caption] <strong>Chris Miller | 7th Grade - Class of 2027 | Quarterback</strong> With a nickname like “Smooth” a player better live up to the hype, and Miller certainly did. The 6-foot, 170-pound righty look the part of a prospect just waiting to shine at the next level. He’s a pocket passer who stands tall an uses his size and strength to make all the throws the route tree requires. Comfortable in the shotgun, the big man with size 9’ 3/8” inch hands was selected to play on the 8th grade GMSAA team, as just as 7th grader.  Watch out! <strong><img class="alignleft wp-image-217345 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/10/RomanTumminia2027-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" />Roman Tumminia | 7th Grade - Class of 2027 | Offensive Line </strong> Returning form last year’s National Championship squad, Tumminia again showed why he’s an important cog on the offensive line engine for GMSAA.  At 6-foot and 200 pounds he’s a very athletic lineman that proved last year wasn’t just random. Despite not playing football very long, the Milton Eagle is strong at the point of engagement and will only continue to get better as he adds weight to his frame. <strong>Quintavious Price Jr | 7th Grade - Class of 2027 | Wide Receiver</strong> Another reliable pass-catcher, Price stood out immediately in the 7th grade group at 5-foot-10 170-pounds. He’s big, ran well for his size, and showed raw athleticism. He’s not overly big as he’s on the taller, longer side. He has good straight line speed and the ability to make tough grabs over smaller defenders. There aren’t many 7th grade defenders who can run and stay with him on the field. He’s a young prospect to keep an eye on.
