William Parries – Fairmont – DE/OLB – 6’3″ 192 lbs
Fairmont’s defensive line was dominant all night and it started with Parries. He was forcing pressure all night and got in the QB’s face all night. On the very first drive, Parries got home and forced a sack-fumble. He got the ball and the offense capitalized and then the rout was on. Parries was the leader of that line defensively and they followed his lead.
Asa Hester – Fairmont – CB – 6’1″ 160 lbs
Hester was the leader of the backend for Fairmont. Fairmont put on a clinic defensively and Hester got his own game-changing play. He sat back in a Cover 2 zone, read the QB’s eyes, and then jumped the route. He raced through the defense and found the endzone for a pick 6. It was 2 drives in a row that the defense was making plays.
Kamron Payne – Fairmont – FS/SS – 5’10” 160 lbs
Fairmont’s defense wasn’t done making plays yet. Payne got his turn to change the game and he delivered. He jumped an underthrown ball and made the interception. He weaved through the defense before being tackled at the 1-yard line. On the very next play, the offense hit the endzone. Fairmont’s defense was dominant and it was fun to watch. 3 huge plays for the defense that led directly to 21 points. You don’t lose many games where the defense scores 3 TDs.
Leon Nevels – West Carrolton – MLB – 6’0″ 185 lbs
Nevels is an extremely raw player but he has a ton of physical tools. He’s able to fly around the defense and make plays. He’s strong enough to hit run fits and come downhill. He’s able to drop back into coverage and play heads-up defense. He isn’t going to make many mistakes and he’s as sure of a tackler as you’re going to find in the area. He had 13 tackles on the night, a sack, and a forced fumble.
