Darrion Montgomery – Northwest – QB – 5’10” 193 lbs
Northwest likes to use Montgomery’s abilities to the max. They like to get him in the open field and run behind his pads. He’s a fantastic runner who knows when to dash through a hole and when to be patient in a hole. He also has a cannon and can throw the ball a mile. He helped lead Northwest to a gritty 9-6 win. Montgomery had the game’s only TD. He rushed through the heart of the defense for a 14-yard TD.
Jayelyn Warren – Ross – QB – 5’8″ 170 lbs
Warren got comfortable in the offense early and was able to play loose. He’s able to make most throws and hit his guys right where the ball needs to be. He isn’t going to make many boneheaded plays. He knows when to trust his legs and take off. He had a 75-yard TD run on Friday where he got the edge, turned the corner, and was gone. He finished the night with 250 scrimmage yards and 2 TDs.
Brayden Fraasman – Ross – RB – 6’0″ 190 lbs
Ross has an elite 1-2 punch and Fraasman is an explosive back in his own right. The read-option with Warren and Fraasman gives defenses fits and it tore up the defense Friday. The defense started getting overly aggressive pursuing Warren. They started handing it to Fraasman who was feasting. He added a 57-yard TD run late in the game to put the dagger in the defense. He finished the night with over 100 rushing yards and a TD.
Mason Young – Harrison – QB – 5’10” 160 lbs
Young started slow and was rattled. He got settled down after he got lit up. Sometimes that’s all you need in football, to take a big shot. He settled down and started dealing. He was picking up key first downs with his legs when nothing was there in the air. He finished the night with over 200 total yards and 2 TDs.
Cannon Ray – Sycamore – WR – 6’2″ 175 lbs
Ray stood out in a big way Friday. He’s a big WR who can go up and come down with any ball that’s thrown his way. He took one pass over the middle, took a big hit where the defender bounced off, and Ray stayed up. He raced down to the endzone and scored a TD on that play. He finished the night with over 100 receiving yards and a TD.
