Week 9 has some interesting comparison battles from receivers to offensive linemen. Also, check-in on who has to step up due to injury. Battle of the 2023 Receivers Dallastown’s [player_tooltip player_id="87844" first="Kenny" last="Johnson"] vs Central York’s [player_tooltip player_id="87843" first="Parker" last="Hines"]. Johnson is our 1st ranked receiver while Hines is our 3rd ranked receiver in the 2023 class. According to Maxpreps in 8 games Johnson has recorded 41 receptions 773 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also recorded two 100-yard games with one of them being 8 yards shy of 200 yards. In 5 games Hines has recorded 21 receptions for 422 yards and 6 touchdowns. I think MaxPreps is missing some games from Hines though. Hines has also recorded two 100-yard games. Johnson has one 2+ TD game while Hines has two 2+ TD games. Johnson is a strong runner, but he creates separation by his route running ability, not by speed. While Hines is more of the quicker guy. I’m excited to see who has the better game. Battle of the O-Line Malvern Prep vs. The Haverford School Malvern Prep and The Haverford School both have really good offensive lines. I feel like Malvern is stronger on the outside with their tackles in senior [player_tooltip player_id="27572" first="Max" last="Bowman"] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="97972" first="Peter" last="Jones"], while I believe Haverford is stronger with their center/guard in [player_tooltip player_id="98520" first="Sean" last="Dugery"] and [player_tooltip player_id="98522" first="Matt" last="Pante"]. Although there are no stats for offensive linemen, I’m intrigued by who will allow less pressure on the quarterbacks. Brashear DE/LB [player_tooltip player_id="64059" first="Kameron" last="Cheatom"] Brashear’s highly recruited junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="27733" first="Ta’Mere" last="Robinson"] got injured in their last game and is out for the rest of the season. With Robinson and Cheatom both on the field, they were a force, but now that Robinson is out, Cheatom will have to step up. Brashear plays Taylor Allderdice Thursday night in their semifinal playoff game. The last time I checked he had 15+ tackles with 6 sacks and a fumble recovery on the season.
