Week One Standouts: Suburban One League

With the first week of PA high school football in the books, I have taken the time to gather some of the top performers from District 1 and 12. The Philadelphia Public and Catholic leagues have been covered thus far, as have the Delaware Valley league and now, the Sub-1 league. For the first week, I will highlight some names that stood out to me the first week of the season. A week’s worth of film isn’t enough to get you ranked on the site. No matter, these names all stood out to me in winning or losing fashion. We want to scout talent at Prep Redzone and get as many names out there as we can. You put in work and are playing in the PPL, PCL, D-V, I-A, or Sub-1 leagues, you’ll find your name here. We will go team by team on players that caught my eye after week one. What I love were the strong performances put on by unranked players out of UD. The more I watch and cover, the more I will uncover talent that needs some spotlight. UD has plenty of that. Impressed with all four of the players underneath O’Sullivan. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Abington </strong></p> John Dzielawa | 6’0, 180 | QB | Abington | 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="178689" first="Danny" last="Moynihan"] | 6’4, 215 | ATH | Abington | 2022 Jaime Rivera | 6’0, 205 | ATH | Abington | 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="178689" first="Danny" last="Moynihan"] landed on our 2022 watchlist this past summer and has already come through with a solid outing in week one to continue his way to a higher ranking. I enjoyed watching unranked Jaime Rivera and hope to see him continue to put in good work. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Cheltenham </strong></p> Zahiem Welton | 5’9, 195 | RB/LB | Cheltenham [player_tooltip player_id="140951" first="Jamal" last="Banks"] | 5’9, 175 | RB | Cheltenham | 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="142783" first="Zaire" last="Williams"] | ATH | Cheltenham | 2024 Tough week one outing for Cheltenham, I expect Williams and Banks to turn up for CH. Zahiem Welton is a new name that I like. Consider both of these players on my radar from here on out. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>North Penn </strong></p> [player_tooltip player_id="27594" first="Khalani" last="Eaton"] | 5’11, 210 | RB | North Penn | 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="27645" first="Levi" last="Carroll"] | 6’4, 180 | WR | North Penn | 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91667" first="Ryan" last="Zeltt"], | 6’4, 190 | QB | North Penn | 2023 North Penn features three ranked prospects, one of which had an absolute monster of a day. [player_tooltip player_id="27594" first="Khalani" last="Eaton"], our 66th best senior and 6th ranked running back in PA, went OFF for 238 rushing yards, 4 touchdowns on 27 carries. He overshadowed what was a brilliant connection between stud wideout [player_tooltip player_id="27645" first="Levi" last="Carroll"] and [player_tooltip player_id="91667" first="Ryan" last="Zeltt"]. They each connected for two touchdowns. Huge fan of this group. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Souderton</strong></p> Shaun Purvy | ATH | Souderton | 2023 An unranked Souderton junior who I heard has been playing well despite losses. He will be on my radar. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Central Bucks East </strong></p> Quinn Moody | 5’10, 180 | ATH | CB East | 2022 Almost 100 yards receiving and rushing on the debut week for the senior out of CB East. Not enough attention to this kid’s performance. Add in a TD on the night that could have easily been three. Field awareness is a huge plus. Sideline catch showed off the concentration, multiple cut-back lane runs that highlight said field awareness. Great performance. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Pennridge </strong></p> Adam Mossbrook | 165 | WR | Pennridge | 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91648" first="Phil" last="Picciotti"] | 6’3, 225 | LB/ATH | Pennridge | 2023 Game notes share that Adam Mossbrook has been productive, haven’t seen film as of yet. [player_tooltip player_id="91648" first="Phil" last="Picciotti"], one of the best linebacker prospects PA has to offer, has been as advertised. He’s an absolute stud run stopper and is often too much for tight ends or unathletic linemen to handle in the second level. Week 1 was a breeze for Picciotti, 10+ tackles on the night. Huge oversight. Josiah Leonard tore through the Norristown defense for 170+ rushing yards and two touchdowns. Awesome night for him, as well as Zach Roberts and [player_tooltip player_id="91660" first="Ben" last="Lane"]. Two defenders that I couldn’t get film on but heard they stood out. Want to see more film out of those two. Leonard on his way to being ranked. Already should be. &nbsp; <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Quakertown </strong></p> Tyler Woodman | 5’9, 170 | RB | Quakertown | 2022 Another unranked prospect who had his stamp on his first game. Here is Tyler Woodman’s stat line from week one. 16 carries, 160+ rushing yards, 286 scrimmage yards, three total touchdowns, and one interception to boot. Awesome outing. Loved the film. He showed off open-field vision in a 95-yard kickoff return to start his 2021 Fall season. Stellar first game. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Harry S. Truman </strong></p> [player_tooltip player_id="140881" first="Makai" last="Jackson"] | 6’0, 185 | WR/DB | Harry S. Truman | 2022 Proper film from a favorite prospect of mine has been hard to come by this Fall. He’s getting his as far as I can tell from what coaches are telling me. One of the best-unoffered players in PA. <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Upper Moreland </strong></p> Byron Hopkins | 6’0, 180 | QB | Upper Moreland | 2022 Here’s another player I will have my eye on moving forward. Quarterback Byron Hopkins, who has limited film, stands out from a build perspective. Love his size, not much film on the kid, but want to see more in what is a crucial senior year after COVID.
