What a great week to get back into the rhythm of things as we saw some crazy performances put on tape by our senior class here in Wisconsin. This week we have offensive linemen blocking for 300+ yards of total offense, an RB that rushed for nearly 400 yards along with 6 TDs, an LB with 20 tackles, and multiple statistical leaders holding onto their crown with number boosting performances. Let’s get into these performances and more!
Grant McCauley Grant McCauley 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Westby | 2022 State WI , ATH- Westby
Stat Line: 14 Carries, 110 Yards, 2 TDs, 7 Tackles, 1 TFL, 2 Sacks, 55 Yard KO Return
Westby has used Grant to the fullest this season. He is the second leading rusher and receiver on offense, and he leads the team in sacks on defense. On offense, the 6’2″ 200 lbs athlete fits the description of a power back. When he lowers his shoulder and keeps his feet churning you could bet the pile was going to be moving forward. It happened multiple times in this week’s film. Grant also flashed some solid vision with the ball in his hands as he found cutbacks and seams as he weaved his way through the front seven of the defense. McCauley really caught my attention with his defensive film. For the OLB position, Grant demonstrated solid first step quickness and acceleration that allowed him to fly past the OT and leave them grasping at air. When the linemen was able to get out of his stance quick enough to stay with McCauley, Grant would show off good lateral agility to quickly get past the hips of the OT. Check him out! He’s an under the radar senior out of division 5 Westby HS. Grant’s Week 6 Highlights
Miles Salinas Miles Salinas 6'5" | 225 lbs | OL De Pere | 2022 State WI , OL- De Pere
Stat Line: Blocked for 61 Passing Yards, 241 Rushing Yards, 3 Total TDs
I don’t have current official measurements on him, but it looks like Miles has been filling out his 6’3″+ frame while keeping the mobility and body control that initially caught my attention this past spring season. In pass protection, Salinas shows quick feet that allow him to mirror edge rushers. During those pass protection reps you can see his active hands as he was the one that would initiate contact without getting caught reaching. In the run game, this week’s film highlights Miles’ down blocking prowess. Over and over we see Salinas driving interior DL down the line of scrimmage with ease. We also get a look at his range and ability to get to the second level. I would label both as strengths of his game. Check him out! He holds a couple offers, but still seems to be under the radar! Miles’ Week 6 Highlights
Noah Barrett Noah Barrett 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Stratford | 2022 State WI , LB- Stratford
Stat Line: 20 Tackles, 1 PBU
Barrett and Stratford found themselves in a dogfight with Wittenberg- Birnamwood in Week 6! Both teams were only able to punch it in for 6 points one time, and a 2 point conversion was the difference in the final score. A big reason for the low scoring ball game was the sideline to sideline play from the 5’11″ 200 lbs Stratford senior LB. The stoutness that Noah plays with jumps off the screen this week. We get a great look into his ability to take on and shed blocks with his strength at the point of contact. His ability to recognize plays and quickly get himself in position to make the play also were major factors to his very impressive tackle total. It wasn’t just as a run stuffer either. Noah demonstrated the ability to read the QB’s eyes while dropping into zone coverage. This led to him breaking up and knocking down a couple passes on the night. Check out the senior right here! Noah’s Week 6 Highlights
Alex Pethan Alex Pethan 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Oak Creek | 2022 State WI , OL- Oak Creek
Stat Line: Blocked for 129 Passing Yards, 306 Rushing Yards, 6 Total TDs
Alex absolutely MANHANDLED defensive linemen in week 6! Watch the film linked at the end of this quick breakdown to check it out. There is no questioning the strength of the 6’3″ 290 lbs senior LG as he drove defensive linemen off the ball and into the ground rep after rep. Alex’s hands go from quick to heavy as he gets them inside to get the proper leverage and that initial punch gets the DL started on their backwards movement. It’s hard to believe that Alex is coming back after missing a couple weeks due to an appendectomy. It looks like he hasn’t missed a step. Check out the film of this mauler! Alex’s Week 6 Highlights
Isaiah Folsom Isaiah Folsom 5'9" | 200 lbs | RB Racine Lutheran | 2022 State WI , RB- Lutheran High School
Stat Line: 7 Carries, 193 Yards, 2 TDs
I have watched Isaiah multiple times over the past year, and I love what he has developed into. The 5’10” 210 lbs RB was a big play waiting to happen last Friday night. The part of his game that has always stuck out on film is his physical play style. That shows up again this week with his tackling breaking downfield to pick up a lot of extra yards after contact. The main traits highlighted in his most recent film is his vision and lateral agility. Every carry shows him doing a good job of finding lanes, setting up blocks, and making defenders miss in the open field. Kenosha Christian Life could not contain the senior all night. Check out the film here! Isaiah’s Week 6 Highlights
Alijah Maher- Parr, RB- Arrowhead
Stat Line: 30 Carries, 391 Yards, 6 TDs, 1 Reception, 8 Yards, 1 KO Return TD
Good luck finding a more impressive Friday night than what the 5’8″ 165 lbs senior RB had in Week 6. While undersized, that hasn’t stopped Alijah from becoming the workhorse back for one of the top programs in the state. The trait that jumps out the most this week is Alijah’s natural instincts for the position. He feels and finds the lanes quickly and plays without hesitation once he finds the lane or block he wants to use. Once in the open field, you can see that Alijah has game breaking speed as he pulls away from defenders and erases pursuit angles. Another major trait that jumps out is his play making ability. Over and over on Friday night he made plays that you don’t see often look easy. Plays like using multiple cutbacks in a play, or bouncing off tackle attempts before breaking free for big gains, or making defenders miss in a phone booth before again picking up big chunks of yards. More college coaches need to be taking notice of this dude! Check out the film here! Alijah’s Week 6 Highlights
Andrew Jeske, DL/OLB- Colby
Stat Line: 3 Total Tackles, 2 Sacks
One of the most productive athletes in the state is the 6’2″ 205 lbs senior DE out of Colby. Despite not having a game in Week 5 and only playing one quarter in Week 6 Andrew still leads the state in sacks with 11. Andrew wins his battles with a quick first step, relentless effort, and solid hand use. As I looked back through past weeks of film I also started noticing that he has the strength to walk OTs off the line before using that speed to go around them. The type of strength that could also allow him to set the edge against the run. Andrew is in the midst of a breakout campaign here in his senior season. Check out his senior film clips here! Andrew’s Film Clips
Alex Belongia Alex Belongia 6'2" | 185 lbs | ATH Rice Lake | 2022 State WI , DB/WR- Rice Lake
Stat Line: 9 Total Tackles, 2 INTs
The most productive ball hawk in the state was back at it again in Week 6! The 6’2″ 190 lbs senior is flying way under the radar of college coaches, and it’s time for that to end. Alex brings everything to the table that should catch the eyes of coaches. Great stats, athletically gifted, and film that demonstrates his traits very well. In Week 6 we get to see the next level range that Alex has as a two deep safety. Not only can he make plays deep against the pass, he also has the range to go from his deep half to the line of scrimmage on the opposite side of the field to make stops against the run. At the point of contact, Belongia is one of the more reliable tacklers that WI has to offer at the safety position. Belongia also has very natural ball skills. So much so that it has allowed him to make just as much of an impact on offense. I believe that Alex’s best fit at the next level is at safety based on his film. I can’t recommend checking this kid out enough. He is going to be a steal. Alex’s Week 6 Highlights
Reed Duellman, RB- Assumption
Stat Line: 8 Carries, 155 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 Reception, 40 Yards
This is my first time watching the 5’8″ 165 lbs senior RB, and apparently I have been missing out on a solid change of pace back. In Week 6 Reed proved that he can shred a defense through the air and on the ground. Through the air, Reed is way too fast and shifty for an LB to run with him. On the ground, Reed is at his best out in space. When he can break into the open and put himself in one on one spots with a defender you can bet that Duellman is going to use his lateral agility to juke past the defender. To get out to the open field, Reed relies on his vision. It doesn’t take much daylight to get him into space either. Reed is an exciting jitterbug with the ball in his hands. Check him out. I believe he could find a role at the D3 level. Reed’s Week 6 Highlights
Cole Toennies, DB/WR- Middleton
Stat Line: 1 Carry, 15 Yards, 6 Receptions, 117 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 Tackle, 1 Blocked Kick, 4 PBUs, 1 Punt Return TD
I first became aware of the exciting playmaker out of Middleton a few weeks back when I attended one of their games. Cole dominated in every facet on that night, and it looks like he is continuing that massive impact. Both when I watched live and in this film, Cole has proven to be a very dangerous return man. The 6’2″ 180 lbs senior has a very good blend of vision, speed, and contact balance that allows him to find the path of least resistance, and break tackle attempts when he needs to. On offense, Cole does an impressive job of making the catch in traffic. Multiple times this week he had to adjust or come back for the ball and fight through the arms of DBs to get to the ball. Toennies’ route running was highlighted in the film as well. Especially on one rep where his head fake forced a very hard bite by the DB leaving Cole wide open for a score. On defense, Cole has all the athleticism to be able to run with his receiver. It looked like Middleton used a lot of zone coverage allowing Cole to read the QB allowing him to react as soon as the ball left the QB’s hands. This allowed him to be very disruptive at the catch point. Definitely know this name and check out his film! Three way playmaker! Cole’s Week 6 Highlights
