Week 6 Preview: York & Lancaster Counties

Region play in the state of South Carolina begins on Friday night and this is when it all begins to count. If you win these games, you can set yourself up to get home field advantage on the road to Benedict College for the state championship. There are some interesting games that you’ll definitely want to be keeping your eye on. Nation Ford at Fort Mill – QB [player_tooltip player_id="91150" first="Carson" last="Black"] <a href="https://twitter.com/CarsonBlack16">(@CarsonBlack16)</a> and the Falcons put up their highest offensive output of the season so far with 55 points last week against Harding University High. Nation Ford has been in every game that they’ve played, with the exception of one and appear to be turning a corner. They’ll look to continue that against Fort Mill and a guy like DE [player_tooltip player_id="118721" first="Miller" last="Shouse"] <a href="https://twitter.com/ShouseMiller">(@ShouseMiller)</a>, who was used in multiple ways in the non-region slate. York at Indian Land – Both of these teams are riding high in the win column, physical on both lines of scrimmage and will try to establish the run game on Friday night. For York, QB [player_tooltip player_id="208367" first="Ayden" last="Davis"] <a href="https://twitter.com/AydenDavis03">(@AydenDavis03)</a> has a good grasp of what the Cougars are doing offensively and he also has WR [player_tooltip player_id="91175" first="Jevon" last="Long"] at his disposal to take the load off. Indian Land DL J.T. Knight <a href="https://twitter.com/JTKnight20">(@JTKnight20)</a> had two quarterback pressures last week and that will be put to the test on Friday. Rock Hill at Spring Valley – Spring Valley pulled off a mild upset of South Pointe last Friday night and made it into the Top 10 of the statewide 5A media poll. They recorded 9 sacks against the Stallions and if they can do anything close to that, region play will get off to a great start. Rock Hill ended a two-year losing streak against Clover last week. Ridge View at Northwestern – Northwestern has been rolling since their season opening loss to South Pointe back in August as QB [player_tooltip player_id="89316" first="Will" last="Mattison"] <a href="https://twitter.com/Will1Mattison">(@Will1Mattison)</a> and the duo of backs in RB Turbo Richard <a href="https://twitter.com/TurboRichard1">(@TurboRichard1)</a> and [player_tooltip player_id="202758" first="Qua" last="Howard"] <a href="https://twitter.com/qua4k">(@qua4k)</a>, who have been on display in the last few weeks, along with all of their offensive talent. Ridge View will roll into Rock Hill on Friday night looking to re-establish themselves after losing their last two games and having one game cancelled due to COVID-19. South Pointe at Catawba Ridge – This game will be loaded with future college talent across the board on Friday night whether it’s Catawba Ridge QB [player_tooltip player_id="91362" first="Jadyn" last="Davis"] <a href="https://twitter.com/iamjadyndavis">(@iamjadyndavis)</a>, [player_tooltip player_id="153256" first="Jacobie" last="Henderson"] <a href="https://twitter.com/jacobieh10">(@jacobieh10)</a>, [player_tooltip player_id="59504" first="Asa" last="Johnson"] <a href="https://twitter.com/Asajohnson55">(@Asajohnson55)</a>, who are looking to bounce back after a tough last few weeks with losses.
