Both teams were equal majority of the game with the score being at a standstill for a while. However, Katy pulled ahead at the end with a score of 21-14. The Famous Katy High School still has a great lineup in 2021 I’ll be talking about their defensive standouts.
#7 Johnathan Hall FS, SS So 6’2
Johnathan Hall definitely stood out as a free safety. Johnathan is fast and patience. He patiently watch the play and made a tackle any chance Johnathan could. Johnathan was properly able to cover his zone and get the cornerback any help they needed. Johnathan even caused a wide receiver to miss a catch and helped one of his fellow teammates to get an interception. Being a sophomore Johnathan is surely to grow more in the next three years undeniably someone to keep on your radar.
#2 Malik Sylla DE Sr 6’6 225 lbs
To be able to play defensive end you need to be quick, agile and strong Malik Sylla was definitely that. Malik was quick off the ball and had quite the long reach. Malik could get pass the offensive line and get into the backfield overwhelming Woodland’s quarterback. Being fast off the ball and being 6’6 Malik will definitely stand out. Malik is a college prospect having offers to UT Austin, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Texas Tech, Clemson University, and many others.
#6 Arian Parish DB Jr 5’11 170 lbs
Woodlands had a versatile offense, but they mainly passed the ball and Arian Parish was able to deal with it. Arian had a lot of speed was able and great awareness of the field. He was able to cover his receiver and block incoming passes. Arian still being a Junior has a lot of room to grow, but he’s being looked at by a few colleges already. Arian has offers to University of Colorado, University of Arizona, University of Houston, University of Arkansas, UT San Antonio and University of Southern California.
#33 Damian Neveaux LB Jr 5’9
Damian Neveaux didn’t stand out much during the 1st half, but when the 2nd half started Damian really started to show out. Damian was stopping run plays and started blitzing the quarterback. This led Woodland’s offense starting making a lot mistakes in the last quarter. Damian even got a sack during Woodland’s last drive that gave Katy the momentum they needed to win. Damian is a slow starter if he works on that and his speed Damian could be a great linebacker and future college prospect.
