In fact, the top statistical leaders in interceptions from last week can attest to this. All but one player from last week’s list made it to this week’s update. Below, KJ Reid was the only player who has been on our list 2 weeks in a row. In addition to him, we have a few new names who are worth checking out as well.
KJ Reid- Social Circle (4)
After week 3 of the regular season, Reid has found himself to be the leader of interceptions in the state of Georgia, while the other players who were previously listed are not even on the list anymore. Within the first two weeks of the season, Reid had 3 interceptions. At that point, it had helped his team to a 2-0 record. Now, after week 3, Reid recorded another interception, but this was not enough to help Social Circle escape their 13-6 loss against Walnut Grove. Reid also had a big offensive performance in this game, as he recorded 8 catches, for 80 yards. Because he has proven to be a reliable asset to his team on both sides of the ball regardless of circumstance, we fully expect him to have a great season moving forward.
Hudson Collins- Southland Academy (3)
Even though Collins team is currently 1-1, he has managed to accumulate 3 interceptions within the first two weeks of the season. Each of these interceptions came during Southland’s week two win against DWHS. While interceptions are hard enough to come by, it is even more impressive that Collins managed to total 3 in one week. Along with this defensive success, Collins has also toted the football well, racking up a good amount of yards on the ground, helping to change the game for his team on the offensive side of the ball. Going into the rest of the season, it will be interesting to see how well he balances his success on each side of the ball. If he can continue to have the same success, just as KJ Reid has, he will certainly have a big year.
Kale Bryan- Lamar County (3)
Even though Bryan started the season off slow from a statistical standpoint, he has managed to pick up the pace, as he has found himself with 3 interceptions since then. During week 2 of the season, he had 2 interceptions, and 1 TD, which is a huge performance in itself. This past week, Bryan managed to snag 1 interception, with a few tackles, only adding to his success this year. This individual success has also contributed well to his team, as Lamar County has managed to win each of their games, making their record 3-0 on the season.
Jackson Hancock- Sequoyah (3)
Just like Bryan, and Collins, Hancock has also totaled 3 interceptions so far this season. The result of this contribution has been a 2-1 overall record for his team. To add to this, Hancock has also shouldered a load for his team, as he also plays RB for Sequoyah. When toting the rock, he has racked up over 250 yards, and 2 TD’s. At this point of time, he averages 6.6 yards a carry, while also totaling over 85 yards a game. Going into the rest of the season, we expect him to continue to produce on both sides of the ball, helping lift his team to success.
