Continue ReadingAs we are already two weeks into the regular season, there have already been prospects all across the state of Georgia who have not only stepped up for their teams, but who have also put themselves in early statewide contention for the receiving yards title. While this is not easy to do, we give special appreciation for these prospects, especially due to the fact that we understand the multiple factors that go into a receivers success before, and after the catch. Below, feel free to take a look at some of the leaders in receiving so far this year.
Zion Ragins Zion Ragins 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Jones County | 2024 State GA – Jones County (304 yards)
It comes as no shocker that Ragins would be in the conversation for one of the best statistical receivers in the state at this point of the season. Not only does he have 3 power 5 offers that further explain his talent and ability, but his QB, John Alan Richter, is also 3rd in the state in passing. Without a doubt, Ragins has been a huge part of that equation, making up for most of Richter’s 638 passing yards this year. During week one of the season, he started off the season for a small 5 catches, 63 yards, and 1 TD. During week two, his talent exploded, as he still had only 5 catches, but managed to total 241 yards, and 2 TD’s. If this is any indicator of his ability to take his team the distance, we are all in on keeping up with him the rest of the year.
Ethan Christian- Prince Avenue Christian (271 yards)
It should also be no surprise that Christian is towards the top of the list receiving wise, especially due to the fact that his QB, Aaron Philo, leads the entire state in passing with 824 yards. While Christian and the Wolverines already have a 1-1 record, Christian has done all that he can to put his team in a position to succeed. You would not have expected this though after his week one performance, where he only had 2 catches for 12 yards, and 1 TD. During last weeks performance, Christian flipped the script, as he made 5 catches, for 259 yards, and 3 TD’s, meaning that he was largely responsible for some of the team’s success. If he can keep this up, time will only tell. This also goes for his stellar QB, who has been performing out of his mind.
Jaden Gibson Jaden Gibson 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Rabun County | 2023 State GA – Rabun County (257 yards)
Jaden Gibson Jaden Gibson 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Rabun County | 2023 State GA is another top tier statistical receiver this season who has benefited off of his QB’s strong performance this season. Going into week 3 of the high school regular season, Gibson and Rabun County are 1-1, and he has seen himself total 257 yards, and 3 TD’s. During week one, Gibson only had 3 catches for 73 yards. During this game, he averaged over 24 yards a catch. His production would soon take a huge statistical jump, as he made 5 catches during Rabun County’s week 2 match up last weekend, for 184 yards, and 3 TD’s. As Gibson and Rabun County approach their week 3 game against Eagle’s landing Christian Academy, we fully expect him to have another productive game, only further boosting his stats, and helping him to climb his way up this list.
Zion Taylor- Parkview (254 yards)
To this point of the season,Taylor has already found himself 4th in receiving yards in the entire state. In the state of Georgia, this is quite a feat. He not only averages 127 yards a game, but he already has 2 TD’s on the season. Each of these TD’s came in last week’s match-up against Mountain View, as Parkview not only came away with a win, but Taylor finished the game with 4 catches, 100 yards, and 2 scores. To add to this, Taylor also started the season pretty hot, he had 7 catches, for 154 yards. If he continues at this rate, he will not only gain attention in the recruiting world, but attention from statewide high school football fans.
