Crystal Lake Central
Jacob Carnrite WR Twitter
Mr. Carnrite had himself one heck of a game Friday night coming away with 10 receptions for 150 yards and 3 TDs in an epic down to the wire game. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage where he’s able to stack the defender gaining the step advantage. This gives him the edge when he goes up for the 50/50 balls on deep shots, he high points the ball and makes the contested catch with the defender all over him. The way this young man is able to track the ball is impressive as every catch was made with his hands as he looked the ball in as opposed to body catches. Let’s not forget that he also blocks downfield for his teammates as well. This was a statement performance by Mr. Carnrite and is a young man that I’m going to be keeping an eye on the rest of the season.

Colton Madura Colton Madura 5'11" | 195 lbs | QB Crystal Lake Central | 2022 State IL QB Twitter
I knew a little bit about Mr. Madura coming into this game, the skillset he showcased was impressive to say the least. He has the ability to make level 3 throws where he puts a touch on the deep ball guiding the ball into the receiver’s basket downfield. This young man is also able to get the ball off under pressure and showed his resilience by staying in the pocket to get the ball off before taking a hard hit resulting in a completion for the first down. What was most impressive was the mobility that he showcased. Mr. Madura has quick acceleration that he utilizes to make something out of nothing. This is seen in the clip below.

Jason Penza WR Twitter
Mr. Penza is a new name for me and boy I’m glad that I got to see him in action after reviewing the game film. Once he secures the catch he plants his foot into the ground to turn upfield. This is another receiver that has good hands and tracks the ball in as he’s securing the catch, this was seen specifically during their last drive where he caught the game-winning touchdown in tight coverage. What’s most impressive is the way that he works back towards the ball not allowing the defensive back any chance to undercut the route. He’s also used in the return game where he reads his blocks well and on one return jumped over a defender for extra yards.

Alejandro Jacobo LS
As we move forward for the rest of the season and thereafter, we’re going to be incorporating special teams players as well in our game evaluations. That being said, the first on our list is Mr. Jacabo who is a long snapper. He showcased a solid follow-through on his snaps on a consistent basis where kept a solid base. The ball had a spiral on it and was put right under the punter’s chin allowing for a fluid punt each time.
Jacobs
Grant Stec Grant Stec 6'6" | 245 lbs | TE Jacobs | 2024 State IL 6’6 225 TE Twitter
Mr. Stec is going to be a young man you’re going to want on your radar, along with Mr. True, as he’s a dynamic player for Jacobs. This young man is quick off the line of scrimmage and gets upfield quickly after securing the catch. His long catch radius is one the defense has to key in on as he’s a deep threat downfield and forces double teams during passing downs. Once this young man stacks the defender he can break the defender off at the top of the route giving him enough room to come down with the contested catch. Mr. Stec and Mr. True are going to be a dominant duo over the course of this season and the seasons to come as they both have playmaking abilities.
Nicholas True 6’5 195 TE Twitter
I got introduced to Mr. True right before the fall season started and wow his previous game film doesn’t do him justice. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage where he stacks the defender and breaks him off at the top of the route creating separation for the completion downfield. This young man has a long catch radius and forces double teams as he’s a deep threat with playmaking abilities. Once he secures the catch by looking the ball in he turns upfield quickly ready to take on the defender, with one of the routes going into the endzone for the touchdown.

Benjamin Ludlum 5’10 180 RB Twitter
Mr. Ludlum made his presence known throughout this contest by bursting through the line of scrimmage showcasing his ability to change gears quickly. He reads his blocks well and keeps his feet driving resulting in arm tackles being broken. If this young man is able to turn the corner he’s off to the races as he accelerates quickly blowing past the 2nd level of defenders. Mr. Ludlum is also used in the return game where he gave Jacobs a good starting field position on more than one occasion.
Max Benner 6’1 175 QB Twitter
Mr. Benner is able to get the ball off under pressure where he makes level 3 throws to his receiver downfield by putting a touch on the deep ball. As he’s being flushed out of the pocket from the defense he showcased that he can throw on the run with the torque and flip of his hips allowing him to put velocity on the ball.
Nasir Canty 6’2 210 RB Twitter
Mr. Canty follows his blocks when he’s the ball carrier waiting for them to get set up before accelerating to full speed. Once a defender makes contact with him he keeps his feet driving resulting in extra yards on the play by playing through the whistle. He’s also used as a lead blocker where he gets hands-on the defender giving his teammate a running lane to go through.
Joe Volenec 6’2 255 OL Twitter
Mr. Volenec fires off the ball and keeps his feet driving playing through the whistle. He gets hands-on quickly resulting in creating running lanes for his teammates. This is seen when he washes the defensive lineman down with his down block and when he drive blocks.
