The WPIAL had an interesting game with Aliquippa and Beaver Falls. This game was filled with sophomores and also a ton of injuries, none that looked serious which is a good thing. Thought this game was out of reach in the 1st half but got better in the 2nd half. Here are the players that stood out in this game.
Aliquippa – <strong>Cameron Lindsey</strong> (SOPH) Running Back– 6’2 190: Lindsey shows to be quick with good speed. He is a hard runner, breaks tackles, and can be hard to take down with smooth cuts. He was the apparent backup for the starter who did not play because of injury. It’ll be interesting to see how Aliquippa uses him going forward. In his debut, he had 14 carries for 80 yards and 1 touchdown.
Aliquippa – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="66045" first="Donovan" last="Walker"] </strong>(JR) Safety 5’11 160: It was exciting to see Walker back out on the field. It was Aliquippa’s first game of the year, and he already recorded his 1st INT on the season. He made a few tackles as well. Had a nice PBU to save a TD. Also, had about a 30-yard reception early in 3rd quarter, which led to an eventual touchdown.
Aliquippa – <strong>Quentin Goode</strong> (SOPH) Quarterback 5’7 155: H/T/Q release, takes what defense gives him. Shows good arm strength for a young kid. Athletic to escape pocket, passer first, continues to look downfield outside pocket. In his debut as a starter Goode was 6-15, 120 yards, and 1 touchdown. It’ll be interesting to see how he continues to develop.
Beaver Falls – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="95733" first="Tyler" last="Cain"]</strong> (SR) LB/WR 6’2 220: Cain shows quickness with good speed. He has good ball skills and shows to be all over the field. He moves well out in space. Good tackler.
Beaver Falls – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27636" first="Quadir" last="Thomas"]</strong> (SR) Wide Receiver: Thomas has good size with length. He has a good release. Good route runner who has good ball skills. Thomas shows to be a long strider. He had 2 touchdown receptions including a 54-yard catch and run.
Aliquippa - <strong>Tiqwai Hayes</strong> (FROSH) Running Back: Hayes has decent size with a thick body. He was only in for a few snaps. He carried the ball a couple of times but immediately showed quickness with some speed. In his first 2 carries, it looked like he gained a total of at least 40 yards. Someone to keep an eye on these next few years. The Quips may have a pretty good RB 1-2 punch.
