The New Jersey Non Public players didn’t disappoint this week as we have some outstanding performances in yardage and in scoring. We have a few newcomers to the top performers as well and word to everyone, get on your HUDL pages! I have a long list of college contacts and I’ll tag them on twitter to show them your performances. These coaches need to see your work! As always I can be reached on twitter: antoinehicks@hicksthewriter and Prepredzone.com/NJ.

vs. Don Bosco: 7 rec, 147 yds, 1 TD

The Seton Hall Prep offensive staff obviously saw something they could exploit in the Don Bosco defense and they executed beautifully for a big win. Nick owned the middle of the field in this game showing great balance and toughness making catches on several slant and post routes. The film displayed his agility in space and great run after the catch ability. Hopefully these college coaches will get on board because Nick is ballin’ out this season as he is 3rd overall in the state in receiving yards and second in receiving touchdowns. Awesome job Nick!

Group 2: Kevin Mayfield, Sr., St. Joseph (Hammonton)

vs. Cherokee: 14 car, 94 yds

Kevin is a 200 lbs and he uses every pound in his game. He finishes runs, bursts through arm tackles and drags tacklers for extra yardage throughout this film. He’s also excellent reading blocks and has the vision to find cutback lanes. I know coaches appreciate that he’s willing blocker in the run and pass game, creating opportunities for his teammates as well. Love to see it.

Group 3: Joel Marellis, Jr., St. Thomas Aquinas

vs. Abraham Clark: 16 car, 104 yds, 1 TD

Group 4: [player_tooltip player_id="27984" first="Kanye" last="Udoh"], Sr., St. Augustine

vs. Willliamstown: 26 car, 242 yds, 2 TDs

Kanye is a powerful runner that consistently breaks tackles for big yards after contact. His stiff arm is a certified weapon and the film shows him literally dragging Williamstown defenders. Don’t let the 6 foot, 205 pound frame fool you though. One of his touchdown runs went for 74 yards, so he’s got wheels too. No wonder Kanye is rated a 3 star RB with multiple D1 offers from places like Boston College and Maryland in his pocket. Kanye is listed as the #2 RB in the ’22 Prepredzone Player Ranking.

Passing
Group 2: [player_tooltip player_id="135813" first="Dean" last="DeNobile"], Sr., Morris Catholic

vs. Madison: 21 of 40, 350 yds, 4 TDs, 115.6 QBR; 4 car, 29 yds, 1 TD

If I were a defensive coordinator I would be desperate to keep this young man in the pocket, because if he’s on the move you’re hosed. His amazing accuracy on the run was on full display during a thrilling overtime win over Madison. One of the main things I noticed in this game was Dean’s willingness to take chances, often throwing passes into tight windows and over defenders for big gains. Almost 17 yards per completion is getting it done. Dean is the #5 QB in the state according to the ’22 PrepRedzone Player Rankings.

Group 3: Kevin Burr Jr, Jr., Camden Catholic

vs. Bishop Eustace: 8 of 14, 169 yds, 3 TDs, 139.6 QBR

At 6’3 tall and 190 lbs, Kevin still shows elusiveness in the pocket or rolling out and is a legit threat to run. He’s not afraid to take shots down the field either, as displayed by his 21 yards per completion in this game. One thing I notice in particular is that he made difficult throws in the end zone. With receivers headed out of bounds, Kevin was able to hit them where his receiver could make a play.
