In this update we take a look at the top defenders who have recorded the most sacks through four weeks of the season.
Here are the leaders to date:
Emmett Hynes | Chatham (8.5)
Hynes, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound defensive lineman recorded three sacks this past weekend to propel him to the top of the leaderboard after Week 4. He was able to get to Montville quarterback by using good leverage and a quick first step. He was a problem from the Montville offense all night long.

Williamson has had a strong two games as he’s recorded seven sacks across the last two Friday nights. After recording four sacks against Jefferson two weeks ago, Williamson followed up that dominating performance by recording three sacks this past weekend in a 42-28 victory over Parsippany Hills. The standup defensive end does a night job setting the edge and was able to get depth to get past his defender and to the quarterback.
Jake Ceincin | Colonia (7)
Ceincin didn’t record a sack this past weekend but he recorded 8 total tackles in a 27-13 victory over Montgomery. Ceincin had a big game in Week 2 where he recorded six sacks versus Edison. An undersized but quick defensive lineman, Ceincin was able to use his speed and quickness to his advantage in that game where he was a frequent visitor of the backfield.
Tommielee Minaya | Becton (6.5)
Minaya had a big game on both sides of the ball last weekend in a 31-0 shutout victory over North Arlington. Minaya, who plays both receiver and defensive end, recorded 3.5 sacks while also rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns. He’s a versatile athlete who is strong on both sides of the ball. On defense, he uses his quickness and speed to blow past linemen and gets to the ball carrier in a hurry.
Other notable leaders:

[player_tooltip player_id="183498" first="Amare" last="Smith"] | Salem (6)
