Both teams been having a great football season so far. They both have been plowing through the competition and getting better week by week. Before the game Fort Bend Clements was undefeated 4-0. However, Ridge Point decided to end Clements’ win streak with an overwhelming score of 56-20. Even though, Clement Rangers lost they still had a great lineup athletes on both sides. I’ll be discussing Clements Rangers players on both sides of the ball that stood out the most.
#7 Patrick Smith CB, WR, RB Sr 5’10 180 lbs
Clements Rangers had a couple players that could play both ways one of them was Patrick Smith. One of Smith’s best qualities was his speed. This was best showcased on offense when Smith was a running back and wide receiver. Smith knew exactly to run the ball and it was very difficult to bring him down despite the fact that Ridge Points’ defense was overwhelming him in size. Patrick was also a great cornerback locking up his man and made a lot of tackles. Seeing how much variety Smith has as an athlete really stood out to me and made him stand out as a college prospect. Smith has numerous colleges and universities offers from San Diego State University, Houston Baptist University, Texas Southern University, Howard Payne University, Colgate University and etc. Smith ended the night with one touchdown.
#4 Jr Mirelles RB Jr 5’5 155 lbs
Jr Mirelles stood out to me as a running back he wasn’t as fast as Smith, but he was still plenty fast in his own right. Mirelles probably touched the ball the most out of anyone besides the quarterback. Mirelles was very tenacious whenever he touched he always averaged a good amount of yards. I see a ton of potential in Mirelles during his next two years of football he’ll become a great college prospect.
#10 Avery Clark OLB, RB Sr 5’11 185 lbs
#10 Avery Clark is another player that can play on both sides of the ball. Clark is a running back and outside linebacker? Clark is big and solid whenever Clark ran on to the field for offense he was a power back. Clark primary purpose was to break through the defensive line during clutch time. When Clark ran the ball he got results even scored the 1st touchdown for the Clement Rangers on the one yard line. Clark was a great power back, but he stood out more on defense. Clark as a linebacker forced a lot of stops Ridge Point had a hard time getting pass him. Clark was even able to make a tackle in Ridge Point’s endzone for a safety.
#1 Marcus Darnell WR Sr 5’10 160 lbs
Marcus Darnell is a great wide receiver he was Clements Rangers’ main receiver. Darnell was quick and fast off the ball and the boy had mittens. If the ball came Darnell’s way he will surely catch it. Marcus ended the night with six receptions, 114 yards and one touchdown.
#38 Zander Salazar OLB Sr 5’10 180 lbs
Zander Salazar is another standout outside linebacker. Zander has good technique and footwork. Zander made stop and assisted in a good amount of tackles. Zander was good at blitzing always getting in the backfield. Zander even managed to get a sack and stop runs before they started.
