We are approaching midseason fast! Here are names (one from each PCL team) of prospects whose stocks are rising in PA, ranked or unranked! [caption id="attachment_205615" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Photo: @SamajJones2[/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="140885" first="Amir" last="Anderson"] | 5’11, 180 | DB | 2022 | LaSalle College HS Current Ranking: 328 This kid is one prospect I am close to pounding the table for at this point. 11 tackles, 9 PD’s, 1 INT, the numbers don’t do the LaSalle College HS senior justice. The film shows a corner that is incredibly focused on details. Leverage, poise, understanding how to use his hands when in phase. Anderson is outplaying his preliminary ranking, I could see him jump into the 200’s or further. [player_tooltip player_id="161717" first="Myles" last="Reynolds"] | 6’2, 190 | DE/TE/OLB | 2022 | Bonner & Prendie Current Ranking: WL Here’s a Watch List player who was already on his way to being ranked. His 2021 campaign has upped his stock even further. A legitimate pass-rusher with legitimate size and speed around the edge. Before the season, I thought of Reynolds as a super-raw prospect with the chance of being productive if given the reps at BP. He’s done that and some. I want to see how many sacks this kid can pile up before midseason. Mike VanHorn | QB | Father Judge Current Ranking: Unranked Mike VanHorn, quarterback out of Father Judge HS doesn’t have a Hudl or Twitter to my knowledge. Based on stats alone, he’s on my radar. 68 carries on the year for 409 yards on the ground, while completing 30 out of 45 passes for 328 yards through the air. Four games have seen VanHorn compile 11 total touchdowns (10 on the ground, 1 through the air). This kid has had a tremendous start to the season. I’ve got my eye on him. Would love to learn more. Austin Ramsey | 6’7, 330 | OL | 2023 | Roman Catholic Current Ranking: Unranked Ramsey is unranked largely in part because I discovered his game in the pre-season, and that we have yet to update our 2023 rankings. This kid will debut high on the list, that’s for sure. Sheer power and size. Overwhelming at times. The new OL prospect at Roman is already creating D1 buzz in the Philadelphia area. This kid is hardly that, he’s a mammoth man that is looking to maul defenders. [player_tooltip player_id="140860" first="Jasir" last="Jefferson"] | 5’10, 170 | WR/ATH | 2022 | Neumann-Goretti Current Ranking: 182 Jasir is coming off a 12-catch performance for just under 100 yards this past week against Archbishop Ryan, His production has steadily increased week after week, as he is now leading the Saints in receptions and receiving yards, almost doubling the players behind him. NG is right in having Jasir lead the way, the kid has D2 potential and just needs more production on film. [player_tooltip player_id="140861" first="Andrew" last="McHugh"] | 6’1, 175 | ATH | 2022 | Archbishop Wood Current Ranking: 184 [player_tooltip player_id="140861" first="Andrew" last="McHugh"] is still shining from that incredible week one performance that saw him catch two interceptions and secure three receiving touchdowns from [player_tooltip player_id="137041" first="Trey" last="Holsman"]. Things have been relatively quiet statistically for McHugh, but his presence is still felt in all three phases of the game nonetheless. Downhill hitter from his DB spot. Leading wideout so far. Impressive start for McHugh. Hope he keeps it up. Rob McConnell | 6’2, 215 | QB/LB | 2022 | Archbishop Ryan Current Ranking: Unranked Rob McConnell is a relatively new prospect to my eyes. I’m on a constant search for new names in the PCL and this kid is one of them. Good size and really good deep ball placement when targeting his weapons downfield. The kid can provide some rushing ability too, the QB can move his build which is a plus. He’s a name, that if this production continues, will earn a spot on our rankings, which is crucial for a senior. [player_tooltip player_id="195704" first="Dante" last="Morris"] | 6’0, 200 | QB | 2022 | Conwell-Egan Catholic Current Ranking: Unranked There may not be a bigger new name in the PCL than Conwell Egan’s [player_tooltip player_id="195704" first="Dante" last="Morris"], an unranked player who is absolutely lighting up Catholic defenses. In four games, the stud senior quarterback has run for just 500 yards on just 40 carries! Incredible production thus far. Morris isn’t the most talented passer but he doesn’t need to be. He loves to finish his runs with authority, I hope he finishes his senior campaign the same way. [player_tooltip player_id="157121" first="Vic" last="Taylor"] | 5’7, 155 | ATH | 2022 | Archbishop Carroll Current Ranking: 333 [player_tooltip player_id="157121" first="Vic" last="Taylor"] is an incredible all-around prospect whose invaluable to Archbishop Carroll. The under-sized defensive back still leads the team in total tackles despite his less-than-spectacular build. Taylor took a punt return to the house opening week, now showing his value on two sides of the ball. If it wasn’t for Jesse Ventre’s spectacular performance against Cardinal O’Hara this past weekend, Taylor would be leading the team in receiving yards as well. The team relies heavily on his production. [player_tooltip player_id="140932" first="K’Saan" last="Greene"] | 5’10, 180 | RB | 2023 | West Catholic Current Ranking: 203 K’Saan Green has been a favorite of mine since the spring. He has kept up his solid spring production with 250 yards on the ground in just two games, averaging just under 5 yards per carry. Greene has done this against some solid competition as well. Every time I catch up on Greene’s Hudl, I’m impressed. [player_tooltip player_id="157113" first="Zymeen" last="Howell"] was also an option on this list, as K’Saan is already ranked high in the 2023 rankings. Howell has been great for WC. [player_tooltip player_id="164520" first="Samaj" last="Jones"] | 6’1, 210 | QB | 2024 | St. Joseph’s Prep Current Ranking: WL The prospect under center at SJP will always be a topic of discussion. We placed Samaj on our 2024 Watch List to see if he will elevate himself onto our rankings. His play has achieved that. He isn’t the prolific passer many SJP fans may be accustomed to but Jones doesn’t need to be. He has completed 43 of 69 passes thus far against some stellar competition, throwing for 436 yards and five touchdowns. Jones is a legitimate dual-threat prospect who excels on his feet. SJP leading rusher has ran for 220 yards in three games, carrying the rock more times than Kahseim Phillips. He may not be the developed passer many expect, yet his early connection with David Washington has become fruitful. Excited to see what the future holds for Samaj.
