Jerrell Wimbley (2022) I 5’10″ I RB I #10
S P E E D! If Wimbley gets the ball in open space, get the field goal team ready Coach! He can fly. He was a very decisive runner, finding the running lanes and hitting them hard, rushing for 3 touchdowns to go along with 270 yards on the ground. It took 2 to 3 players to get him down each run, giving evidence to his stat of averaging nearly 13 yards per carry on the night.
Jakobe Crawford (2022) I 5’10″ I S/CB I #0
This young fella is not afraid of contact! He will hit you from the start of the game to the end. He got off receiver and running back blocks effectively and was sticky in coverage. He lined up as the deep Free Safety, Strong Safety near the line of scrimmage, Slot Cornerback and Outside Cornerback, and played all position well! To top it all off, Crawford was balling with one hand! The stats show he had a total of 4 tackles on the night, but he impacted the game with what some of us call “invisible plays” (the plays the don’t count on the stat sheet, but a players presence was felt).
D’Koreion Hammond (2022) I 6’0″ I RB/SB/KR I #23
The first thing noticed about Hammond is his versatility. Multiple formations throughout the game had Hammond playing RB or Slot Back/Receiver. He was very quick, with no wasted movements, and tough to bring down. As a receiver he had natural hands, catching everything thrown his way. Hammond + open field = touchdown. on 13 carries he rushed for 112 yards with 2 touchdowns to go with it, earning 8.6 yards per touch.
Dylan Spencer Dylan Spencer 6'5" | 245 lbs | DL C.E. King | 2023 State TX (2023) I 6’5″ I DE I #12
Spencer is listed at 6’5″ and he used EVERY inch to beat linemen! He did not allow then to get into his body and used his hands violently. He lined up all over the defensive line. spencer’s high motor and technique abled him to be he effective in the running and passing game, totaling 5 total tackles and 2 sacks. Spencer is the only non-senior on this list, and for good reason. I am very excited to see how be progresses this season and the next!
Roy Morris (2022) I 6’0″ I LB I #8
Anywhere the ball was, Morris was! He was physical, disciplined, and active. He dropped into passing lanes well, got off blocks well and di not miss a tackle. He suns sideline to sideline and arrives with bad intentions! Not all of his plays made it on the stat sheet, but Morris did finish with 5 solo tackles (7 total) and a sack. He was/is undeniably the heartbeat of that defense
C.E. King finished Friday night in the win column, and in no small part to the top five athletes!
