However, St. John High School won the game by one point. The final score was 34 St. John Mavericks (3-0) and 33 Fort Bend Christian Eagles (2-1). St. John High School specialty was their offensive firepower.
#11 John Perdue SS, QB Sr 6’1 220 lbs
St. John had a very unique offense it is something you rarely see. They focused a lot on the quarterback John Perdue getting the snap and instantly running the ball. Whenever John ran the ball he was never afraid of getting physical to get as many yards as he could. John ran the ball more himself than he did passing it or handing it off. When John did throw the ball it was mainly short slant routes. John had 198 passing yards and a completion rate of 80%. John ending the night with two rush in touchdowns and two reception touchdowns.
#23 Cole Allen WR, CB, FS Fr 5’10 180 lbs
Cole Allen is a star in the making. Not only does Cole play both ways on offense and defense he is only a freshman. It is rare to see a freshman with the amount of skill Cole had. Cole is very fast possibly the fastest player on his team. Cole was wide receiver on offense and he could also play running back. Cole was outrunning everyone on the field it was very impressive watching a freshman out performing juniors and seniors. Cole had nine receptions and two reception touchdowns. I believe if Cole put on more weight and muscles in these next four years he’ll be an unstoppable threat.
#34 Pierce Leverett TE, DE Jr
Pierce Leverett was an intriguing player. Pierce started lining up as a wide receiver, but it was revealed later that he’s a tight end. Then, he came out on defense as a defensive lineman as a defensive end. Pierce is very athletic he’s tall and has a good frame he can easily transition to each position properly. I would say Pierce was better as a defensive end, he was fast off the ball and very aggressive. Pierce also played well as a tight end. Pierce could block, tackle, catch and run he’s a very valuable player. Looking forward to seeing Pierce’s progress his Junior and Senior year.
#7 Miles Masterson RB, WR, FS Sr 6’0 165 lbs
Miles Masterson is an experienced running back and overall player. Miles didn’t get to run the ball a lot, but he was great support. Since the quarterback John Perdue instantly ran the ball a lot Miles acted more as a fullback by blocking and assisting the quarterback. John was able to run the ball a couple times and he once went out for a pass and got 55 yards.
