Alijah Appleton, Grand Terrace, 2023
Grand Terrace got a nice road win against Tahquitz and got big chunks of yardage through the air. Appleton was the one making the big receiving plays, hauling in six passes for 185 yards and a touchdown. One of his catches was for 70 yards. The junior has 16 catches on the season for 342 yards.
[player_tooltip player_id="143118" first="Nico" last="Brown"], Edison, 2022
Brown was one of the best big play receivers in the Sunset League in the spring and he had a breakout game against Palos Verdes last week. He caught six passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns for Edison in a 49-10 win. He has the speed to get behind zone defenses and can beat many corners in man coverage. Edison plays San Clemente this week and Brown is the guy the San Clemente coaching staff is spending time preparing for.

Owen Chambers, Dana Hills, 2022
Dana Hills got an upset win over crosstown rival Aliso Niguel and in my opinion it’s the biggest win for the Dolphins since 2009. The Wolverines seemed keen on stopping Omar Black and held him to 42 yards. While they were distracted with Black, Chambers caught eight passes for a career-high 251 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Dana Hills showed that they have enough receiver talent that you can’t focus on one guy.

Dylan Cotti, West Ranch, 2022
West Ranch has one of the best passing offenses in Southern California led by junior quarterback Ryan Staub. A few receivers had big games for West Ranch in its 62-38 win over Pacifica of Oxnard, but Cotti had the best game. The senior caught seven passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. With West Ranch’s passing offense, expect more huge games from Cotti and the Wildcat receivers.

Conor Lawlor, Scripps Ranch, 2022
Scripps Ranch has an underrated passing offense in San Diego. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="145247" first="Jax" last="Leatherwood"] has been great and his favorite target is Lawlor. Lawlor caught six passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Elsinore of Wildomar. Scripps Ranch has been on a roll and Lawlor will continue to put up big numbers every week.
