[player_tooltip player_id="186974" first="Blaze" last="Iglesias"], Orange, 2022 Iglesias has been a great defensive player at Orange for multiple seasons now. He is one of the better tacklers in Orange County and can get into the backfield regularly. Orange won its first game of the season in a defensive battle with La Habra. Iglesias had 9 tackles and 4 sacks for the Panthers in the low-scoring win. He has a tough matchup against Capo Valley this week who has a speedy quarterback and likes to attack the middle of the field. Iglesias is committed to Air Force. https://twitter.com/ocvarsityguy/status/1422614085556789252?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="186814" first="Thomas" last="Kensinger"], Venice, 2022 Venice is one of my favorite teams in the City Section and the Gondoliers got their first win of the season in shutout fashion against Santa Monica. Kensinger had 11 tackles, 3 sacks and a forced fumble for Venice in the win. He is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end who was All-CIF LA City Section previously. https://twitter.com/ThomasKensinge1/status/1436957363332804610?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="25320" first="Jaxson" last="Moi"], Cathedral Catholic, 2022 Just when people thought Helix was back as a top team in San Diego, they run into Cathedral Catholic. Moi was the best player on the field and led the Dons defense to a shutout. He forced a fumble on a goal line stand to open the game and had an interception on an under screen. Moi is arguably the best defensive player in San Diego and is committed to Cal. https://twitter.com/Giantskillz_RML/status/1436015606625542178?s=20 Griffin Ramos, Mt. Carmel, 2024 Everybody expected Mt. Carmel to be very good offensively this season, but the Sun Devils have been great on defense as of late. They have outscored their opponents 126-38 this season have back-to-back shutouts against Valley Center and Valhalla. Ramos is a talented sophomore defensive back who had two interceptions, one of which where he jumped a slant route which means he studies his film. Coach Drew Westling and every other coach in the world loves guys who study film. Ramos also had an interception he returned for a touchdown against Patrick Henry earlier in the season. https://twitter.com/ramos_griffin/status/1437410678466220033?s=20 https://twitter.com/Coach_Hefley/status/1431335987389497344?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="25257" first="Jalen" last="Woods"], St. John Bosco, 2022 The UCLA-bound linebacker had 9 tackles and 4.5 sacks in a nice win over East St. Louis of Illinois in the Trinity League Showcase. Woods is a linebacker who can play sideline-to-sideline and rush the passer better than a lot of linebackers. With defensive linemen up front like [player_tooltip player_id="25302" first="Jairus" last="Satele"], [player_tooltip player_id="25456" first="Matayo" last="Uiagalelei"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25245" first="Nathan" last="Burrell"], it opens up pass rushing lanes for Woods. Bosco goes on the road for the first time this week to play Oscar Smith of Virginia. https://twitter.com/KyleMorgan_XOS/status/1383786296129187840?s=20
Other top performers: Christian Aguilar, Eastlake Alex Arroyo, Roosevelt [player_tooltip player_id="25234" first="David" last="Bailey"], Mater Dei Peter Bario, Campbell Hall Jaden Beisel, Aliso Niguel Brendin Benoit, Centennial Miguel Berrios, Sunny Hills Dominick Brito, Garden Grove Sean Brown, Simi Valley [player_tooltip player_id="141869" first="Eric" last="Butler"] Jr., Centennial Donny Couts, Coronado Luke Crabtree, Ocean View Jimmy Cunningham, Simi Valley Hayden Dendiu, Dana Hills Jordan Dwyer, Mission Hills [player_tooltip player_id="143113" first="Griffin" last="Grant"], Torrey Pines Cody Grbic, Edison Jack Hernandez, La Quinta Kevin Himes, Palm Desert Nick Juarez, Yucaipa [player_tooltip player_id="145264" first="Mason" last="Kubichek"], Corona del Mar Mikey Laderer, Aliso Niguel Daniel Longoria, Hawkins Reese Mcdonald, San Clemente Riley Morris, St. Genevieve Luke Rotenberg, Brentwood Anthony Villalobos, Canoga Park Nathan Wagner, Fullerton Dylan Wood, Corona del Mar Dominick Wright, Eastlake
