The Jenks Trojans had their second half rally fall short against Bixby on Friday night. However, the Trojans still have plenty of talented prospects that will keep their contention for the state championship this fall. In this scouting report, we put a spotlight on five of the top standouts from their game with Bixby on Friday. If you missed our game recap, you can check that out RIGHT HERE.

– 2022 Defensive Lineman
The first of a pair of defensive linemen that stood out to us was senior defensive lineman

. The Trojans have a few prospects that we like that are on that defensive front. However, Thurber might be the best athlete of the bunch and lines up as a defensive end. From that spot, he is an absolute handful because of his combination of size, strength and speed. Thurber has the size to really open some doors for himself at the next level. He could either commit to being a defensive end, add some more weight and move inside, or even move back to a linebacker spot. We could see him being successful at either of those three spots at the next level. We think the best fit for him is to remain as a defensive end and terrorize opposing offensive tackles. The Jenks defensive line is going to cause problems throughout the season for plenty of opponents. They have three legitimate prospects that are going to be a handful to deal with and Thurber was doing an excellent job on Friday night getting into the Bixby backfield.

One player that had an impact in all three phases of the game for the Trojans was Jenks senior standout

. The senior was Jenks’ return specialist, he lined up at corner and was also a deep threat at the wide receiver position. Jones showcased his top ability throughout the evening and that’s without a doubt his speed in the open field. When he accelerates and gets to that top gear, he’s going to be tough to stop throughout the season. It wasn’t a perfect night for the Trojans and Jones had his struggles at times too. He had a few drops throughout the evening and when that’s cleaned up, he’s going to be one of the top complete playmakers for the Trojans this season. Jones is currently underrated in the state’s 2022 class but in our opinion, his stock should be going up. And the more opportunities he gets to put his versatility on tape, he’s going to have more opportunities throughout the season.

Speaking of versatility, if we were handing out awards for top prospects, that would go to Jenks’ junior standout

. The Trojans have a few weapons on that offensive side of the ball this year but it’ll be Stanford that is the most explosive throughout the season. In their game against Bixby, Stanford had seven carries for 79 yards and also added four receptions for 37 yards. This was a game where Jenks had to scratch and claw for offense against a tough Bixby defense. But the most consistent playmaker who had success against this tough Bixby defense was Stanford. After getting another chance to see Stanford in person, it’s obvious why he’s being recruited by power five programs. When it comes to the 2023 class, Stanford is establishing himself as one of the more versatile athletes on the offensive side of the ball. And what’s scary is Stanford had a great night and we didn’t even notice him on the defensive side where he’s excellent at the safety spot.

. We have him listed as a defensive lineman but he played a variety of positions throughout the game against the Spartans. On offense, Parker was mainly used as the lead blocker for the Jenks running game at full back. On defense, Parker was primarily on the defensive line and him combined with

give the Trojans a really strong defensive front. We like Parker on the defensive side of the ball as a prospect but can’t help but like what we saw from him as a full back lead blocker. We’ll be honest, it was a tough night for the Jenks running game going against the Bixby front seven and one of the best linebacker groups in the state. But Parker was still able to have a good game on that side of the ball and he’s going to bulldoze future opponents throughout the season. However, when Parker is on the defensive side of the ball, Parker is incredibly disruptive and athletic at the point of attack.

Back to the offensive side of the ball for our last Jenks prospect that stood out on Friday night and that will be Jenks’ wide receiver

. The Jenks standout was the leading receiver for the Trojans with a game-high six receptions and 68 yards on the night. Walls was a walking first down with all but one of his receptions going for at least ten yards throughout the night. Walls is an incredibly tough wide receiver and he’ll need that toughness and physicality throughout the season because he’s not the biggest or the fastest wide receiver in the state’s 2023 class. Walls will need that physicality but he can’t let it hurt the team throughout the season. There were a few times throughout the game where Walls would be seen going a little too hard after the whistle. You can see that Walls is just wired that way but in a big game, he can’t afford to hurt his team with a penalty in a game where the offense was struggling at times. But it seemed like anytime the Trojans were in trouble, they looked for Walls, and the junior made the catch.
