1. Colin Page (SR-RB) – Anderson High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 774 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 24 receptions, 408 receiving yards, 4 receiving touchdowns
Anderson comes off a string of wins against Westwood and Pflugerville but the Trojans now face a 3-1 Weiss tonight at 7 p.m. Anderson has shown signs of bouncing back after last season, especially with both the losses this season being close, 14-13 loss to McCallum and 57-54 loss to Rouse. Considering the impact this game could have on momentum, Page is certainly the player to watch as he has been a main driving force for the Trojans so far.
2. Alexander Franklin III (SR-RB) – Leander High School (Leander, TX)
2021 Season: 644 rushing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 1 receiving touchdown
Leander takes on Pflugerville this Friday at 7 p.m. Leander has had an off/on season with wins against Glenn and Cedar Creek, but losses to Vista Ridge and Manor. Although Leander has not put up insane numbers like other teams, certain players stick out on offense that could change the momentum of a game and one is Franklin who has shown his potential in essentially every game he has played.
3. Elijah Oakmon Elijah Oakmon 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Pflugerville | 2022 TX (SR-RB) – Pflugerville High School (Pflugerville, TX)
2021 Season: 412 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns
The beauty of Pflugerville is the multiple rushing attacks that each opposing team will face. Not only will Leander have to content with Oakmon, who leads the team rushing-wise but also quarterback Jaylon Reeves who often opts to run the ball more than throw and has been successful in doing so, and junior running back Jake Iloka Jake Iloka 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Pflugerville | 2023 State TX who has been somewhat quiet this season but can turn on the jets at a moment’s notice.
4. Darrel Jones (SR-LB) – Pflugerville High School (Pflugerville, TX)
2021 Season: 33 total tackles, 27 solo tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles
Leander will also have to contend with one of the best defenders in Central Texas. Jones has been disruptive to say the least this season with an outstanding five sacks so far. Considering Leander has had some problems protecting its quarterback, such as allowing five sacks against Vista Ridge, Jones could have a big day on Friday.
5. Reece Beauchamp (SR-WR) – Vandegrift High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 18 receptions, 440 receiving yards, 8 receiving touchdowns
Speaking of Vista Ridge, the undefeated Vandegrift sets its sight on the Rangers on Friday at 7 p.m. One of the key players to watch is also one of the best receivers in Central Texas in Beauchamp. He has become such a force and his chemistry with junior quarterback Brayden Buchanan means Vista Ridge will need to create disruption between the two have any chance of a win.
