Prep Redzone looks at the top risers in the updated New Jersey Class of 2022 high school football player rankings. After some additional film study, off-season tracking, and offers, PRZ New Jersey made some adjustments to the rankings. Below are some of the athletes who saw their stock go up as a prospect.
[player_tooltip player_id="27968" first="Kenny" last="Fletcher"]/6-3/DL/Delran
Current ranking: No. 4, Previous ranking: No. 8
Fletcher committed to Rutgers back in March of this year. His value to his team from both the offensive (wide receiver) and defensive (defensive end) sides of the ball are hard to ignore. It’s clear that he’ll be a defensive end at Rutgers. I like the way he blocks downfield too.
[player_tooltip player_id="27980" first="Davison" last="Igbinosun"]/6-2/DB/Union
Current ranking: No. 9, Previous ranking: No. 12
After our update in May, Igbinosun took several visits before committing to Rutgers on July 3. He is listed as a corner on some recruiting websites. After watching his first-game highlights from this season, it looks like Igbinosun is lining up at the safety position on defense. He'll also be returning punts and playing running back from the looks of it. His stock as a player rises due to his ability to possibly affect the game on both sides of the football.
[player_tooltip player_id="107408" first="Taj" last="White"]/6-5/280/OL/Hudson Catholic
Current ranking: No. 11, Previous ranking: No. 23
White has been committed to Rutgers since February of this year. In his case, he was underrated during the May update. We believe that he hasn't begun to scratch the surface of his abilities and has a strong future at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="27979" first="Denis" last="Jaquez"]/6-3/DL/St. Augustine Prep
Current Ranking: No. 12, Previous ranking: No. 24
Jaquez committed to Northwestern back on June 28. He is another player that was underrated the last time around. Not anymore. I expect him to have a strong senior season and possibly crack the Top 10 by the end of the year.
[player_tooltip player_id="115062" first="Matt" last="Fries"]/6-5/275/OL/Cranford
Current ranking: No. 20, Previous ranking: No. 30
[player_tooltip player_id="27974" first="Justin" last="Jenkins"]/6-2/DL/Irvington
Current ranking: No. 22, Previous ranking: No. 31
[player_tooltip player_id="27982" first="Vince" last="Carpenter"]/6-6/OL/Red Bank
Current ranking: No. 32, Previous ranking: No. 33
[player_tooltip player_id="27989" first="Ryan" last="Butler"]/5-11/Bergen Catholic
Current ranking: No. 47, Previous ranking: No. 54
Butler committed to Princeton on March 7. He's a player that can easily work his way into the Top 40. Stats don't tell the full story with Butler due to the tough competition he faces on almost a weekly basis.
[player_tooltip player_id="136734" first="Zachary" last="Palmer-Smith"]/6-0/205/RB/Delran
Current Ranking: No. 56, Previous ranking: No. 69
Honestly speaking, Palmer-Smith might be underrated at the moment. I think he'll get his just due from a recruiting standpoint if he gets off to a strong start in the upcoming weeks.
