Iverson Howard Quince Orchard
Howard is only a freshman but that didn’t stop him from making an impact Friday Night. Howard displayed great speed on jet sweeps and was able to get to the outside multiple times. Howard also saw snaps on defense where he played in coverage. He was solid in coverage. For a freshman to be a two-way impact player on Quince Orchard means you must be special, and that is exactly what Howard is.
Martavian Davis Martavian Davis 6'2" | 190 lbs | LB Quince Orchard | 2022 State MD Quince Orchard
Davis is known for being a defensive standout but he showed his versatility against Paint Branch. He ran the ball and ran it well. He also showed that he could be a receiving threat out of the backfield and got the first score of the game off a route out the backfield. Davis can do it all on the field and don’t expect him to slow down anytime soon.
Shaun Lee Paint Branch
Lee was the most impressive player on the field Friday. In a game filled with linemen with multiple college offers Lee was the best on the field. He was fantastic in both the pass and the run game. In the run game, he showed that he is mobile, and has the ability to get to the 2nd level. In traditional run blocks, he would get inside and finish off his blocks. In pass protection, he showed great footwork and also showed great awareness to clean people up when Smith would extend plays.
Octavian Smith Octavian Smith 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Paint Branch | 2022 State MD Paint Branch
Paint Branch needed a big game from Smith to keep up with QO and they got just that. Smith made plays with both his arm and his legs. Smith was explosive with the ball in his hands but also showed that he has the ability to make throws from inside the pocket. Smith will have a great case for county MVP at the end of the year.
Kam Reynolds Springbrook
Reynolds is the perfect back for a spread offense. He has great speed and burst that makes him a big-play threat every time the ball is in his hands. He also has great vision and picks the right running lanes to run through. Hopefully, Springbrook gets him more involved throughout the season.
Tylek Bright Seneca Valley
Seneca Valley has had a dynamic offense through the first two weeks and Bright is a big reason why. He is a back that can do it all. He has the speed to run on the outside, he has the power to run in between the tackles. He is also a great receiver and can make plays on screens and from routes out the backfield. Bright is a two-way star for Seneca so expect to hear a lot more from him this season.
Jabreian Harden Gaithersburg
Usually, players in the front 7 aren’t known as playmakers but Harden is an exception. He knows how to get downfield and wreck havoc. Hopefully, he can continue his breakout year.
