The second Friday of high school football in Missouri produced another memorable night full of big games, dramatic victories and impressive performances throughout the Show-Me State.
We are taking a look at some of the individual performances that stood out in the St. Louis area, starting with a pair of MICDS teammates who fueled an offensive explosion:
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="96126" first="Reagan" last="Andrew"], 5-9, 185, QB, MICDS, Class of 2022</strong>
Andrew completed 16 of 21 passes for 274 yards and five touchdowns and added 57 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 13 carries in the Rams' 59-52 victory at Park Hills Central. That’s 331 total yards and seven touchdowns for the Rams’ quarterback. In two games this season, Andrew (pictured above) has completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 498 yards and eight touchdowns (without an interception) and has rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns. In eight games a year ago, he threw for 1,447 yards and 13 touchdowns, against two interceptions, and rushed for 308 yards and 12 touchdowns.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="178524" first="PJ" last="Behan"], 6-2, 180, WR, MICDS, Class of 2022</strong>
Behan had a night he’ll never forget in the Rams’ wild 59-52 win at Park Hills Central. He had a career day with 12 receptions for 272 yards and five touchdowns — all career highs — as MICDS improved to 2-0. Behan had 26 catches for 533 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games a year ago as a junior and had one catch, a 33-yard touchdown reception, in the Rams’ win over St. Louis University High last week.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="196494" first="Liam" last="Hughes"], 6-4, 180, QB, Union, Class of 2023</strong>
Hughes had a strong sophomore season and he's picked up right where he left off as the Wildcats are 2-0 after two weeks. On Friday, Hughes led Union to a 47-0 win over visiting Borgia by completing 13 of 15 passes for 267 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for 37 yards and a touchdown. Through the first two games, Hughes has completed 75 percent of his passes for 493 yards and seven touchdowns (without throwing an interception).
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37577" first="Jared" last="Rhodes"], 5-11, 200, RB, Ladue, Class of 2022</strong>
Rhodes had a career day in the Rams’ 59-22 win over visiting Hazelwood West. The strong 200-pound Division I prospect carried 17 times for 187 yards and four touchdowns and added a 61-yard touchdown reception to give him five scores on the night. The 187 rushing yards and five touchdowns were both single-game career highs. Last season, Rhodes racked up 538 rushing yards and eight total touchdowns in five games.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="101699" first="Cole" last="Ruble"], 5-10, 180, QB, Seckman, Class of 2023</strong>
A run-first quarterback, Ruble has continued where he left off with his outstanding sophomore season and has propelled the Jaguars to an early 2-0 start. On Friday, at Oakville, Ruble ran 21 times for 350 yards and four touchdowns and added 67 yards passing with a touchdown. In two games this season, Ruble has rushed 31 times for 541 yards — averaging 17.5 yards per carry — and six touchdowns and thrown for 124 yards and two scores. A year ago, as a sophomore, Ruble racked up 1,716 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns in eight games. Ruble also wrestles and plays baseball.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37718" first="Charos" last="Sutton"], 5-10, 170, QB, Troy Buchanan, Class of 2023</strong>
The Trojans are averaging 58 points per game so far this season and Sutton, a dual-threat quarterback, is one of the primary reasons for the offensive onslaught. Sutton accounted for five touchdowns in the first half on Friday in Troy’s 72-12 win against visiting Warrenton. The quarterback completed nine of 13 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 23 yards and a touchdown on just three carries.
